Family Child Care

Family Child Care (FCC) offers child care for children 4 weeks to 12 years by trained and certified "Family Child Care Providers" living in on-post government quarters or off post residences.

• Small group setting with a home environment
• Full-day, part-day, before and after school, hourly, and extended care

FCC providers and family members 12 and older must pass the required background checks and are monitored and inspected on a regular basis.

Check theArmy FCC Onlineweb site for more information. Visit the Central Enrollment or Family Child Care office to request a password that will allow you to access the secure portion of the site for provider information and referrals.

The majority of FCC providers are certified by Baby Signs, Inc., the world's leading sign language program for hearing babies. Learn more atwww.babysigns.com.

The FCC program offers employment for military spouses enabling them to earn an income while staying at home.

The next FCC Orientation class is scheduled for 22 - 29 Feb 2013, 0800 – 1600, at the Joe E. Mann Building, 3392 Magruder Ave. Come in to complete an application and talk with the staff about the possibility of becoming an FCC Provider. If you are a transferring provider from another installation, we will work with you to "fast-track" the process and get you on board much sooner.

The Fort Jackson Youth Center is located on the corner of Imboden Parkway and Chesnut Road. The center serves as the focal point for many youth programs and is one of two Boys & Girls Clubs located on Fort Jackson. The youth center has been a Boys & Girls Club since November 1999 and is Fort Jackson's Positive Place for Kids. The other Boys & Girls Club on Fort Jackson is the recently opened Middle School After School Program site referred to as the House and is located at 5957 Parker Lane in the housing area.

MWR Activities Map

Scales Avenue Child Development Center is a Department of Defense (DoD) certified and National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) accredited center. Scales Ave CDC Provides full day and part day care, for infants through kindergarten Monday - Friday for up to 60 hours per week. Care options also available include:

• Summer camp for children completing kindergarten
• Before & after kindergarten program
• Options for children needing 25 - 30 hours of care per week
• Childcare for chapel services on Sundays. Hours 0830-1345
• Hourly services before and after the opening and closing of the Hood Street CDC

Hood Street Child Development Center

Hood Street Child Development Center is a Department of Defense (DoD) certified and National Association for the Education of Young Child (NAEYC) accredited center providing quality hourly child care for short term (maximum 25 hours per week) child care needs. Advance reservations recommended.

MWR Activities Map

• Drop-off and pick-up from on-post schools are provided for all time periods except 0800
• Special openings available on request for unit or organizational functions
• Evening care also provided on the second and fourth Fridays of every month, 1800 – 2300

The School-Age Services Program bridges the gap between Child Development Services and Youth Services and provides programs for youth in Grades K - 5. It takes the worry out of what to do with your child before and after school, during winter and spring school vacations, and during the summer holidays with programs for regular and occasional users.

• Transportation to and from some selected off post schools in District II.
• Programmed activities after school
• Partnerships with MWR activities including Century Lanes Bowling Center, Palmetto Falls Water Park, and Post Theater
• Homework center and computer lab as well as a monthly calendar of events for K – 5th grade youth
• USDA approved snacks & meals
• Monthly calendar of events for open recreation
• 4-H Clubs on Wednesday afternoons during the school year

Boys and Girls Clubs of America

Occasional users receive 4 free hours monthly during the school year and weekend open recreation services as part of their CYS registration. Occasional user care is available for the before and after school program. Additional hours may be used at a cost of $4.00 per hour with a limit of 5 hours per week .

Imboden School Age Center Provides full day care for infants through pre-school and School Age children (Kindergarten through 5th graders) Monday- Friday.
Care Options also include:

  • Before and/or After School program
  • Transportation to and from Fort Jackson schools and some selected off post schools in Richland District I
  • Full day services on school out days(teacher’s workday, conferences)
  • Winter, Spring and Summer Camps
  • Programmed activities
  • Partnerships with MWR activities including Century Lane, Palmetto Falls Water Park and Post Theatre
  • Partners with 4 H Clubs and Boys and Girls Clubs of America
  • USDA approved snacks & meals

Middle School & Teen Program

The Middle School & Teen Program operates out of the Youth Center, In addition, the Middle School After School Program now has its temporary site at 5988 Chesnut Rd. As a Boys & Girls Club affiliate and 4-H partner, the MS/Teen Program offers age appropriate activities for youth in 6th through 12th grade.

Hours: Monday - Thursday, 1430 - 2100

MWR Activities Map

Middle & High School After School Program
• No cost after school program for middle & high school youth
• Transportation and snacks are provided
• Homework assistance is available
• Activities include cooking, sports, game room play, recording, rock wall climbing, photography, computer lab access, and weekly field trips.
• Hours are Monday - Friday 14:30 to 18:00
• After 18:00, if additional care is needed, youth can remain

MS/Teen Open Recreation Program
Hours: Mon—Thurs. 15:00 to 21:00, Friday, 15:00 to 22:00, Sat. 13:00 to 22:00, Sun. 14:00 to 18:00
• Step Team practice Wednesday @ 17:45 and Saturday @ 14:00
• Homework assistance is available
• Technology Lab offers computer training as well as other educational activities
•Keystone club meets twice a month
*Keystone club focuses on academic success, community service,career and education.
•Basketball practice, movie night, creative arts, and cooking are some additional activities offered.

MS/Teen Workforce Preparation Program
• Year round employment opportunities working at the center and various other MWR activities
• Youth ages 14 through seniors in high school
• Apply at Non appropriated Fund Personnel Office in Strom Thurmond Building
• Participate in Boys & Girls Clubs of America Career Launch Program

MST Program also provide TRANSPORTATION to "MST registered teens" from the
