Animal Care Center

The Animal Care Center offers vaccinations, heartworm testing, feline leukemia/FIV testing, fecal exams, parasite control, microchipping, health certificates, diagnosis and treatment of zoonotic diseases for dogs and cats of authorized active duty and retired members and their families. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Closed on the weekends and holidays.

Arts and Crafts Center

The Art and Crafts Center includes a Craft Store, Frame Shop, Laser Engraving and offers several classes on a variety of crafts and hobbies. Hours of operation are Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Wednesday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.; closed on Sunday.

Auto Skills Shop

The center is equipped with state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment and trained automotive specialists. In addition to the numerous auto-related services offered at the center, a Virginia State Inspection service is available, as well as a full service car wash. The center also provides a basic automotive repair course each month. The center also manages a resale car lot that is located on main base. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Closed on Sunday and holidays.

The community center programs sponsors a multitude of family events such as the annual Talent Contests, Car Shows, Breakfast with Santa, Family and Teen Talent Contests, USAF Production of Tops In Blue, Missoula Children's Theatre and so much more. Career Focus Program
The Career Focus Program at the Family Support Center is an employment assistance program designed to provide information and employability skills training for military spouses to enable them to enter or re-enter the job market. The program actively seeks to help spouses prepare for their job search and obtain employment in addition to providing long and short term career counseling.

Services available are: job referrals, educational opportunities, resume/job application assistance and resource library.Workshops are offered weekly to assist with career development in resume writing, interviewing skills, job search and federal jobs.

If coming from overseas locations, spouses of military members may be eligible for unemployment benefits with the state of Virginia. If coming from another state, you may apply via an interstate claim. Eligibility for unemployment benefits varies from state to state. You must register with the Virginia State Employment Service to apply for unemployment in the state of Virginia.

Military spouses may be eligible for preference in some Department of Defense hiring. In order to be eligible, the spouse must be already serving on an excepted appointment overseas or on a career or career-conditional appointment at the time of the PCS orders are issued. The spouse must be placed on leave without pay or be separated from their appointment due to PCS in order to receive spouse preference priority placement consideration.

The mission of the Air Force Information, Tickets and Travel program is to provide customer driven travel venues, services and other entertainment activities. The office offers discount tickets to the local museums, movie theaters and major theme parks such as Busch Gardens, Water Country USA, Paramount's Kings Dominion and Six Flags. They also offer discount tickets to Walt Disney World, Universal Studios and Sea World in Florida and California. Customers are given guidance and information brochures on various activities, venues, hotel information and area maps.

The office will help you plan group trips and vacations. They also maintain two buses, a 38 and 35 passenger bus. These are used for one-day excursions to visit our surrounding area. Some frequently visited sites include the Washington National Zoo, the Smithsonian Institute, Baltimore Aquarium, State Fair of Virginia and Delaware's Dover Downs Slots.

They have also recently implemented the Military Travel Voucher program. The great features of this programincludes discount pre-paid admission to theatres, theme parks, museums and other attractions throughout North America. The program also offers significant savings on the cost of lodging reservations at hotels and resorts throughout the U.S.

Customers are able to book airline, hotel and car rental reservations as well as plan vacations and cruises through the aftravelonline.com Web site. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.; closed Sunday and holidays.
