Director of Staff (DS)

As an advisor to the wing commander, the Director of Staff establishes policies and procedures for wing staff agencies while managing wing staff details and special projects. The DS coordinates support activities and ensures effective interface of assigned agencies with those of other functional areas to optimize support and accomplish the wing mission. Additionally, the DS provides administrative support and reviews all executive correspondence for impact prior to signature. In his absence, the DS assumes vice commander's administrative duties.

Protocol (CCP)

The 45th Space Wing Protocol Office is one of the busiest in the Air Force! Between conferences and distinguished visitor visits, Wing Protocol handles more than 1,000 visitors per year. The protocol staff is the main focal point for planning and coordinating visits by distinguished personnel and providing guidance and direction on ceremonies and conferences. During these DV visits, the protocol staff provides everything from developing schedules and itineraries to handling all logistical requirements. In addition to the staff 's many duties, protocol is also the focal point for billeting reservations for the five distinguished visitor quarters at Patrick AFB.

Command Post (CP)

The Command Post functions as the executive agency for the commander and serves as the single agency for the execution of command and control activities. The Command Post operates 24-hours per day and is the nerve center from which the commander monitors and executes the readiness and alert capability of assigned forces, coordinates the utilization of personnel and resources and controls operations during peacetime and wartime.

45th Comptroller Squadron (PTS)

The 45th Comptroller Squadron provides financial services to 10,000 Air Force/contractor personnel and 125,000 retirees at Patrick AFB, Cape Canaveral AFS, three tracking annexes and 54 geographically separated units worldwide. Financial services include military and civilian pay customer service, travel pay, accounting, budgeting and cost analysis support for the 45th Space Wing and its tenant mission partners. Comptroller personnel manage an $800 million annual budget and oversee payments of $1 billion to operate, maintain and upgrade the 15 million square mile Eastern Range, supporting space and suborbital missions and ballistic missile tests valued at more than $20 billion.

Historian (HO)

The 45th Space Wing History Office provides historical information, analysis and perspective to wing leaders and their staffs to support planning, policy development and decision making. The office also responds to requests for information about wing history from private organizations, government agencies and the general public. The office produces books, monographs, studies and reports to preserve the history of the 45th Space Wing.

Inspector General (IG)

The Office of the Inspector General serves as the "eyes, ears and conscience" of the wing commander. The Complaints and Inquiries section manages the personal complaints and Fraud, Waste & Abuse programs and monitors all Congressional inquiries for the wing commander. The section also analyzes complaint data and briefs wing leadership on systemic problems and trends. The Exercise and Evaluation section plans, develops, executes and evaluates scenarios to test the wing's capability to respond to contingencies, as well as assessing mission performance and organizational effectiveness through management of the wing selfinspection program. The IG is the lead agency for preparing the wing for higher headquarters Operational Readiness and Compliance inspections.

Staff Judge Advocate (JA)

The Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, located in Building 562, provides legal support to the 45th Space Wing and tenant organizations for official matters and legal assistance to all military, dependents and retirees for personal matters. Legal assistance is offered on a walk-in basis on Monday and Wednesday, 8 to 10 a.m. Active duty personnel in uniform have priority. Emergency legal assistance is available on a case-by-case basis. Powers of Attorney and notary services are provided Monday through Thursday, 8 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. and Friday, 8 to 11 a.m. Household good claims for damage caused during shipment may be submitted by appointment, or by mail for personnel attached to units not within a reasonable driving distance from Patrick AFB. Prior to making an appointment all personnel are required to submit their DD Form 1840/R within 70 days from the date of delivery. The legal office closes every Friday at noon for training purposes. Cape Canaveral Spaceport Management Office (CCSMO)

The Cape Canaveral Spaceport Management Office performs management insight for the activities of the Joint Base Operations and Support Contract (J-BOSC), a joint initiative between NASA-KSC and the 45th Space Wing to combine base support requirements under a single contract. CCSMO is responsible for administering the J-BOSC within the overarching objectives of Safety, Health and Environmental Leadership. CCSMO is jointly managed by both agencies for the furtherance of cost efficiencies, customer satisfaction and marketability of joint resources. The focus of this contract is to consolidate and streamline the processes and procedures customers (users) use to identify, secure and account for services. CCSMO leads the partnering activities necessary between state, local and commercial enterprises to further the vision of a national spaceport.
