Unrestricted wear of BDUs/ACUs off post is allowed daily, between the hours of 5 a.m. and 7 p.m. Soldiers in BDUs/ACUs returning from field maneuvers must travel directly home, stopping for emergency items only, such as gas and emergency repairs on vehicles. Utility uniforms are inappropriate for wear at official social functions off the installation such as dinners, memorial services and funerals.

BDUs/ACUs are inappropriate for travel via commercial airlines or other commercial travel means leaving the Fayetteville area. Soldiers are reminded that their appearance in any uniform reflects on the U.S. Army and appropriate pride must be exhibited to ensure uniforms are worn properly and are presentable.
