Liaison Services offers Youth Sponsorship training, Youth Sponsorship council. The liaisons also provide home school programming and support the Youth Action Council, PCS and grade advancement transition assistance and post-secondary education preparation information. CHILD DEVELOPMENT CENTER
Registration for any Child, Youth & School Services program consists of full-day services for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years and hourly care for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years. FAMILY CHILD CARE
Army certified Family Child Care homes are available on and off the installation. FCC providers offer age-appropriate activities in a homelike environment. The small group size allows children to develop close relationships with caregivers and other children. FCC provides oversight and extended care for single and dual military parents. KINDERGARTEN PROGRAM
The kindergarten program includes a before- and after-school daycare service for kindergarten children. Transportation is provided from the center to on-post schools. SCHOOL AGE SERVICES
Before- and after-school programs for youths in grades K-5 are provided in Bldg. 5510 (Circle and Rectangle) located on Harr. Transportation is provided to and from on-post schools. Hours of operation are from 5:45 a.m. to 6 p.m. Full-day services are available for days when there is no school. Boys and Girls Club programs and 4-H are incorporated into School Age Services programming. Full day Camps are available during school breaks. The child and youth sports & fitness program provides recreational and educational programs that are fun, safe and nurturing. Participants are given an opportunity to learn and experience the fundamentals of sports, fitness and a variety of team and individual activities. Army Community Service invites active duty military, their Families, retirees and Department of the Army civilians into a world of education, opportunity and discovery, while offering services which promote self-reliance, resiliency and stability during war and peace. FAMILY ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS: ARMY FAMILY
ACTION PLAN/ARMY FAMILY TEAM BUILDING
The Army Family Action Plan identifies and recommends solutions to Soldier and family generated issues that affect the quality of life of the total Army family. An annual conference is held at Fort Carson each fall. Members of the community become involved in the AFAP Conference by serving as delegates, volunteer facilitators, recorders and administrative assistants.
The Army Family Team Building program improves personal and family readiness preparedness to enhance overall Army readiness through training workshops. AFTB prepares all of America's Army—Soldiers (active, Reserve and retired), Department of the Army civilians, and family members of all these groups—to function at the highest level in varied situations with minimal support. AFTB classes are offered on a regularly scheduled basis. There is also a Family Readiness Academy with classes and resources to fit the military lifestyle. MOBILIZATION AND DEPLOYMENT READINESS PROGRAM
ACS Mobilization and Deployment Readiness assistance is provided for active duty, Reserve and National Guard Soldiers and their Families. The Family Readiness Program assists units and their Families in preparing for deployment. Operation READY pre deployment briefings are scheduled through individual units.
Family readiness group leader and rear detachment training are conducted on a regularly scheduled basis to ensure leadership is prepared for challenges of Army family life due to mobilization and deployments.
Family Assistance Information forms are available to Reserve and National Guard Soldiers during the Soldier Readiness Program process. Information such as family members, spouse, next-of-kin, special needs, medical problems, identification card and pay options are collected. Family Assistance sheets are mailed to the military installation closest to family members to facilitate assistance while the Soldier is deployed. A ACS invites you to discover the opportunities offered by Fort Carson ACS Family Readiness Academy which partners with the Army Community Service, the Mountain Post Wellness Center and the American Red Cross. The curriculum offers numerous ways to seek self-development, independence, enjoy self-sufficiency and improve personal well-being. Staff is dedicated to providing customers with the most current resources and training opportunities, especially for Soldiers and their Families. Courses offered by the academy provide knowledge and tools needed to meet the challenges of military life. Classes on how to buy a car, parenting and support groups, marriage enrichment, Army Family Team Building, "Carson Cares," resume writing, interviewing techniques. EMPLOYMENT READINESS PROGRAM
The ACS Employment Readiness Program, located in Bldg. 1526, provides assistance and self-development workshops to military Families. The mobile lifestyle can restrict an Army spouse or dependent opportunities for employment and career advancement. The program is designed to assist the military family to find and secure employment. Employment information is available for opportunities with: Civil service (appropriated fund employment); Non-appropriated fund employment in recreation facilities, childcare and other areas; government agencies including state, city and county; contract positions within Fort Carson and the community; and local companies in the surrounding communities. Employment readiness also offers a variety of self development workshops, training, counseling, seminars and job fairs. Here are a few of the offerings: resume/Resumix writing; career assessments; interviewing techniques; dress for success; building a career portfolio; and computers for beginners. All workshops are provided in English and Spanish. Information is also available on local colleges, universities, educational programs and scholarships. FINANCIAL READINESS PROGRAM
The ACS Financial Readiness Program provides professional financial counseling service to Soldiers and family members. Services include budget counseling, financial planning and investment options, personal finance seminars and classes. Screening and registration for federal, state, county and city assistance programs are also available. All services are provided free of charge. Assistance with consumer complaints and resolution of issues concerning local businesses is another service offered. Free CARFAX (used vehicle history) reports can also be obtained through the Financial Readiness Program. ARMY EMERGENCY RELIEF
Army Emergency Relief provides emergency financial assistance to Soldiers - active and retired - and their dependents, when there is an established need.
Assistance is available for food, rent, utilities, emergency travel, vehicle repair and funeral expenses. AER also gives undergraduate level education scholarships, based primarily on financial need, to children of active duty and retired Soldiers.
AER cannot help pay for nonessential items; finance ordinary leave or vacation; pay fines or legal expenses; help liquidate or consolidate debt; assist with home purchases or improvements; help purchase, rent or lease vehicles; cover bad checks or pay credit card debt. Requests for assistance from active duty Soldiers must begin with unit command financial noncommissioned officers. For more information call 526-4783. FAMILY CONNECTION
The ACS Family Connection is a place for Families to gather information about Fort Carson and the Colorado Springs community, to meet new friends, to borrow household items from the ACS loan closet and to find out how to make the most of the Mountain Post. The Family Connection maintains a family-friendly facility for Soldiers and family members to take advantage of programs designed specifically for transitioning Families: a play area for children, Internet access, the Carson Cares Spouse Orientation for all new spouses, welcome packets and a home buyer's workshop.

MULTICULTURAL SUPPORT PROGRAM

This ACS Relocation Readiness Program is designed to assist foreign-born family member. The program offers the following: English as a second language classes, the German support group, Korean support group and Hispanic support group.

SOLDIER AND FAMILY READINESS PROGRAM
The ACS Soldier and Family Readiness Program promotes individual, couple and family wellness by offering a comprehensive program that includes awareness, education and prevention to prevent family violence. Classes are offered to commanders, troops, professionals and the community. Prevention and support services include: New Parent's Support Program (home visitation); child safety education; nurturing parent programs; single parent support; play group; infant massage; cooperative parenting and divorce; Boot Camp for New Dads; Prevention and Relationship Enhancement Program; various life skills seminars; and victims advocates for domestic violence or sexual assault. EXCEPTIONAL FAMILY MEMBER PROGRAM
The ACS Exceptional Family Member Program is a mandatory enrollment program that works with other military and civilian agencies to provide comprehensive and coordinated medical, educational, housing, community support and personnel services to Families with special needs. Those required to enroll in the program include Soldiers on active duty (including Army Reserve and active Guard Reserve), and National Guard personnel serving under authority of Title 10, United States Code. The EFMP improves Soldier and family quality of life without affecting promotions.
Participants must enroll in the program when they have a family member, regardless of age, who requires medical services for a chronic condition, received ongoing specialist care; has mental health concerns/psychological needs; receives educational services under an individualized education program; or receives services under an individualized family services plan. The program is designed to assist the Army Personnel Office in making assignments to ensure that needed services are available at the receiving command before the assignment is made. The EFMP also provides advocacy, information and referral, PCS assistance, childcare assistance through the special needs resource team and assistance with accessible housing. Soldiers with known or suspected exceptional family members must report to the EFMP coordinator for instructions and enrollment procedures. For information call 526-4590.
AMERICAN RED CROSS
The American Red Cross at Fort Carson has two offices. The main office is located on the first floor of the DFMWR building, Bldg. 1217, Room 114, the corner of Ellis and Specker Ave. The telephone number is 526-2311. Emergency communication:
In the event of an emergency critical accident, illness or death in a service member's immediate family, the Red Cross should be notified at once. The Red Cross will verify the situation and relay emergency leave requests, if necessary, to the proper military authorities. It is up to commanding officers to decide whether or not to grant leave. Access to emergency financial assistance: When an emergency arises that requires the presence of the service member or his or her family, the Red Cross may provide access to an interest-free loan or grant for travel expenses. These funds are made available by the military aid societies. They may be authorized for other emergencies as well and are disbursed on the basis of need. Referrals to specialized sources of help are also available to service members and their Families. This service is provided on behalf of Army Emergency Relief after duty hours. Volunteer services:
Many volunteer opportunities are available including service at Evans Army Community Hospital, post dental clinics, main office or local chapter. Disaster assistance and CPR/first aid courses are provided by Pikes Peak Chapter. Call 632-3563. Hours of operation are Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

ARMY CAREER AND ALUMNI PROGRAM CENTER
The Army Career and Alumni Program Center is located in Bldg. 1118, Room 133, on the corner of Ellis Street and Chiles Avenue, entry is through the rear of the building only. The ACAP offers assistance to transitioning personnel and their Families through individual counseling, referrals to other agencies both on and off post, that provide services relating to the transition process. In addition, the ACAP Center counselors facilitate a half-day workshop on resume writing during the Department of Labor's Transition Assistance Program. Visitors to the ACAP Center will find transition materials to include: employer hiring days, job fairs and education expos, computerized job search capabilities to include Internet access, a comprehensive library of transition-related books, and a staff to assist patrons with their needs.

LEGAL SERVICES
The Office of the Staff Judge Advocate provides two primary services for Soldiers and their Families. The first is the Army Legal Assistance Program and the second is the Army Claims Program. The Office of the Staff Judge Advocate is located in Bldg. 6285 on Woodfill Road. For information call 526-5572.
LEGAL ASSISTANCE
The Fort Carson Legal Assistance Office provides legal assistance to all Soldiers, retirees and their family members. Services include preparation of wills, powers of attorney and simple adoption paperwork.
We also offer counseling and provide advice for individuals dealing with landlord/tenant, family law and consumer issues as well as counsel and represent Soldiers going through Medical and Physical Evaluation Boards.
The office is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday. We are closed for lunch every day from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Appointments can be made by calling Thursday at 9 a.m. Walk-in appointments are available on Monday and Thursday with sign-up at 12:30 p.m.

ARMY CLAIMS
The Fort Carson Staff Judge Advocate Claims Office is responsible for processing all claims for damage or loss of personal property, including privately owned vehicles, due to military shipment or storage, as well as damage or loss of property occurring on post when the loss is considered "incident to service."
To file a claim for shipment or storage damage or loss, bring the pink form (DD Form 1840/1840R, Notice of Loss or Damage) to the Claims Office, Bldg. 6285, Woodfill Road, within 70 days after delivery of your shipment.
Other losses should be immediately reported to the Military Police (MP). Attach the MP Report to your claim file for processing as soon as possible thereafter.

ARMY CONTINUING EDUCATION SERVICES
A full range of educational opportunities is available for Soldiers and adult family members. High school diplomas or college degrees may be earned in a wide variety of career fields. For Soldiers, unit education counselors are the place to start in pursuing educational goals. Professional education counselors work at the unit level in the Skill Development/Education Center located in Bldg. 1117, on the corner of Ellis Street and Specker Avenue. ID CARDS AND DEERS
The Fort Carson ID card section is located in Bldg. 1042, O'Connell Blvd., Room 326. Family members need a marriage certificate, birth certificate or an old ID card for their ID card application. Military and civilian employees are issued their CAC at the same location. Operating hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The office is closed for all federal holidays and open on training holidays, but with limited staffing. All military family members of active duty, retired or deceased Soldiers must be enrolled in the Defense Eligibility Enrollment System prior to receiving non-emergency medical care. RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES
Fort Carson offers diversified worship services and religious activities including workshops, religious education for all ages and special ministries. Programs are designed to meet the special needs of Soldiers and the military family. Services on post include Roman Catholic and general Protestant services, Protestant Contemporary services, Gospel services, and Wiccan gatherings. Fort Carson also has a Native American Sweat Lodge, using traditional Lakota spiritual ceremonies led by local Native Americans and is open to all Fort Carson personnel and their family members. PROVOST MARSHAL
The Fort Carson Provost Marshal's Office operates a proactive program to discourage crime and maintain a high quality of life on post. The program is operated by the Physical Security/Crime Prevention Branch located in Bldg. 2757, Barkeley Avenue. For more information call 526-2158/9726. CHECK CASHING
The Fort Carson Main Exchange located in Bldg. 6110 at Flint and Chiles Avenue will cash personal checks up to $300 per day and temporary checks of $100 per day.

ARMED FORCES BANK
The Armed Forces Bank main office is located in Bldg. 1512, at Founders Plaza. Security Service Federal Credit Union has a branch office on post at Bldg. 1513, Founders Plaza. POST NEWSPAPER
The office of the post newspaper, The Mountaineer, is located in Bldg. 1430, 6101 Wetzel Ave., Room 123. The newspaper is published weekly on Friday (Thursday when a federal or training holiday is Friday). Limited free classified ads are run in The Mountaineer for Soldiers, Family members and civilian employees of Fort Carson selling their own personal property (no businesses). To place an ad, clip the coupon in the back of the newspaper, fifill it out and bring it to The Mountaineer offifice or mail it to the publisher at the address listed on the form. The Mountaineer staff cannot answer questions on advertising as that is the responsibility of the publisher. The Fort Carson Main Post Exchange is located in Bldg. 6110, Martinez Street. It provides customers a variety of services under one roof. It includes the PX, barber shop, beauty shop, GNC, flower shop, Abba Eye Care and military memorabilia. The food court offers Taco John's, Charlie's Steakery, Burger King Xpress, Robin Hood Sandwiches and Anthony's Pizza. THRIFT SHOP
The Community Thrift Shop, located in Bldg. 1919 on Specker Avenue south of the Special Events Center, sells used merchandise in good condition to Soldiers, Department of Army civilians and their Families. The Army and Air Force Exchange Service operates three shoppettes on Fort Carson.
