Tripler AMC | Dental Care
TRICARE Prime On behalf of the Army Dental Care System, we welcome you to the land of Aloha! It is a pleasure, for our organization, the U.S. Army Dental Activity- Hawaii to serve as your provider of quality dental services while you are stationed in Hawaii. It is our intent to make your dental experiences as convenient and pleasurable as possible.

We offer the highest comprehensive quality dental care possible. Our focus is on Soldier dental readiness and wellness, dental health promotion and exceeding our customer’s expectations.

The Tripler Dental Clinic provides routine dental care to all active duty Soldiers assigned to eastern Oahu and to other active duty military service members assigned for duty at Tripler Army Medical Center.

All patients other than active duty receive dental care from civilian dentists by enrolling in the TRICARE Dental Plan, as mandated by federal law (see section on TRICARE Dental Program). Such patients can receive extremely limited, spaceavailable care if approved for Medically Adjunctive Dental Treatment or as teaching cases.

Medically Adjunctive Dental Care is dental care that significantly decreases the morbidity of medical care a patient gets while hospitalized at Tripler and/or dental care that cannot be provided the patient by the civilian community as an outpatient.

A limited number of children who are family members and who are enrolled in the Exceptional Family Member Program because of their special needs and who require specialized management in a hospital setting, may be seen by the pediatric dentist.

Teaching cases. A limited number of non-active duty patients may be treated through the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program and/or the Advanced Education in General Dentistry Program.

The TRICARE Dental Program (TDP) is a voluntary, comprehensive dental insurance program offered worldwide by DoD to family members of all active-duty uniformed service personnel and selected Reserve and Individual Ready Reserve (IRR) members and/or their family members.

United Concordia administers this program through which family members and reservists receive dental care from civilian dentists in the local community. Active duty military are encouraged to enroll their family members in TDP; otherwise they should be prepared to pay 100 percent of family members’ dental costs in the civilian community.

For more information, including how to enroll and find participating civilian dentists, visit the United Concordia’s Web site, http://www.ucci.com, or call (800) 866-8499.
