Auto Hobby Shops
Auto Skills Centers (ASC): Self-help customers can rent a stall to work on car repairs, tuneups, brake jobs, auto painting and more. The Hickam site offers the added service of free how-to classes and can perform oil changes. ASC offers two locations on Oahu (Hickam and Moanulua) and one location at Pacific Missile Range Facility, Kauai (Mana Motors). These locations have trained mechanics on duty to assist if needed. Air tools, hand tools and bench tools are also available. A comprehensive library of repair manuals and a computer with Mitchell On-Demand are on-site to help you research any problem. ASC also offers drive-up services such as vehicle safety inspection, headlight adjustments and electrical diagnostics. If you’re going on deployment, Pearl Harbor offers secure storage for your vehicle. Hickam library’s collection features 39,000 physical items including printed books, audio CDs, Playaways, DVDs, software and study materials. Online databases include EBSCO, Net-Library, Overdrive and Tumblebooks for children. Pre-school Story Time is held the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. Dial-a-Story is available 24/7 by calling 808-449-8297. Also available at the library are Transparent Languages Online, which teach 80 different languages.
The library has 25 Internet computers, three hardwire cable drops and Wi-Fi access. Patrons must register for a password in advance to use the Wi-Fi connection. There are also color copiers and printers available as well as fax services to the U.S. mainland and overseas.
All active-duty personnel, retirees, National Guard, reservists, Department of Defense employees and family members of these groups with valid ID cards are eligible to borrow material from Hickam’s library. Sailing Programs: Rent a sailboat or take sailing lessons. Reservations are available for private or group lessons for sailing. Checkout reservations should be made with the Harbor Office once you have a certification to sail which will allow you to rent Hickam Harbor boats.
Start Sailing Right is a basic sailing program that will teach students to sail the Laser (12 feet), Catalina (14 feet) and Rhodes (19 feet) sailboats. The Wet Hens teach a basic sailing course
9 a.m. to noon Thursday. This program provides an opportunity to learn the basics of sailing while having fun and adventures with other students and the renowned Outdoor Recreation volunteer instructors, better known as the Wet Hens. Hickam Beach and Grass Areas: Sitting beside the Sam Choy restaurant is the beautiful Hickam Beach and Honeymoon Beach. Picnic tables and barbecue grills are available. A bathhouse is provided at the beach. The Beach Rental Shack is open with your choice of one- or two-man kayaks, boogie boards, beach chairs and Hawaiian outrigger canoes. If you are on Pacific Missile Range Facility (PMRF) on Kauai, visit Mana Splash. Most pools offer adult and leisure lap swimming during the weekdays and swim lessons for kids. Water aerobics is also offered at select locations throughout the week. The water slide at Scott Pool proves to be a popular attraction during the hottest days, along with the kiddie pool at both Scott Pool and Pool 2.

MWR Youth Programs affiliated with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America: MWR has several youth programs on Oahu and one on Kauai. On Oahu, the School-Age Care Program operates sites at Catlin Clubhouse and the Hickam SAC Building to offer child care before and after school hours. Serving children 5 to 12 years old, the centers offer fun activities in arts and crafts, games, healthy snacks and help with homework. Catlin is open only to children attending Aliamanu, Pearl Harbor and Pearl Harbor Kai Elementary schools. The Teen Center also provides a safe after-school environment for kids 13 and older to go to work on homework, play and participate in clubs. Bellows Air Force Station
Bellows Air Force Station is one of Hawaii’s favorite recreational vacation destinations.

At Bellows Air Force Station, enjoy one of the finest beaches and plenty of soft Hawaiian sand. There are 107 furnished cabins available for year-round use by DOD members and their families. Cabins may be reserved by calling 808-259-8080 locally or 800-437-2607 from the mainland.
Bellows Air Force Station offers individual and group camping. Each campsite has a picnic table and a barbecue grill. Two tents and 10 people are allowed on individual campsites. Ten tents and 75 people are allowed on group campsites. Electricity is not available, but bathhouses with hot water are nearby. There are five camper cabins, which have a queen bed, a bunk bed and solar-powered lighting. Linens are not provided but can be rented for a small fee. Call 808-259-8080 for more information.
Bellows Air Force Station has four pavilions and a deck with a beautiful ocean view that may be rented for group gatherings and special functions. The pavilions and deck are equipped with a barbecue grill and hot coal disposal area. Each beach pavilion holds 100 people; the mini golf pavilion holds 50 people, as does the deck.

Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam Religious Ministry
Whatever one’s background, finding a place to worship after a PCS move can be and usually is challenging. The Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam chaplains are available to come alongside you to help you find a place of worship and take the next step with you in your spiritual journey. There are a number of opportunities to get plugged into a worshipping community at one of three chapels at the installation. In addition to these worship services, religious programming is available for people of all ages, which include Bible studies, Vacation Bible School, and service and social events.
