Health
Naval Hospital Camp Pendleton overlooks
Lake O'Neill, has 133 beds and is located
approximately 12 miles from the Main Gate.
The Naval Hospital participates in the program
where enrolled TRICARE Prime patients have
priority for access to care.
Priority for care is given to active duty service
members, family members of active duty enrolled
in TRICARE Prime, retirees and their family
members enrolled in TRICARE Prime. Enrollment
in TRICARE Prime can be accomplished
by visiting the TRICARE Service Center in the
Naval Hospital, the Joint Reception Center,
or calling (888) TRIWEST (888-874-9378). All
active duty members are required to enroll in
TRICARE Prime during in-processing.
Upon arrival at Camp Pendleton, families
should bring their medical records to the Outpatient
Records Desk, located just inside the
hospital entrance closest to the outpatient
parking lot. This allows entry into the outpatient
system, and will reduce waiting times
during first medical appointments.
All patients are required to show proof of eligibility
for medical care, and must be listed in the
Defense Enrollment and Eligibility Reporting
System (DEERS) computer. Beneficiaries can
verify their DEERS information by contacting
TriWest at (888) TRIWEST, visiting the
TRICARE Service Center, or their nearest uniformed
services personnel office (ID card facility).
Contact DEERS directly at (800) 538-9552 or
https://www.dmdc.osd.mil/appj/address/index.jsp
to update address changes and other DEERS
information.
When the Naval Hospital does not have services
available for eligible beneficiaries, patients
will be referred to local TRICARE certified civilian
providers. Beneficiaries will be expected to use
their primary insurance, which may include
Medicare, TRICARE and/or other employee or
government health plans. Active Duty and
TRICARE Prime beneficiaries will not incur any
out-of-pocket costs when referred by a primary
care provider. Patients requiring civilian medical
care should contact the Health Benefits Advisor
at (760) 725-1403 or TriWest Healthcare Alliance
at (888) TRIWEST (888-874-9378) for more
information or visit the TRICARE Service Center
located on the 6th floor of the Naval Hospital.
For Health Care advice or educational information
on common health care concerns, call the
Health Care Information Line at (800) 611-2883.
For those patients who are TRICARE Prime
and enrolled to hospital sites: If urgent medical
problems arise when your clinic is closed, call
the After-hours PCM Urgent Medical Need
Line at (888) 738-7044. A staff physician covering
as your PCM is on call; please be prepared
to give enrollment, sponsor and social security
number information.
Most of the hospital clinics operate on an
appointment basis. Appointments are available
by calling the clinic directly, or with a health care
provider's referral. Primary Care (Family Medicine,
Internal Medicine and Pediatrics Clinic)
appointment system is centralized. The telephone
number for that service is (760) 725-4327.
Specialty care not available at either Naval
Hospital Camp Pendleton or TRICARE Outpatient
Clinic Oceanside may be available at
