If it is a day on the water you are looking forward to the New River Marina is a good place to start. You can call the Marina at 449-6578.

A boating permit is required to rent boats at the Marina. For small boats and the pontoon boat, classes are given at the Marina. Call the Marina for more information on permits, boats and rental fees.

The Marina has nine campgrounds available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The grounds are for tents only and each site has a fire pit.

A state fishing license is required for fresh water fishing. There is no license required for fishing in salt water. The Marina is salt water.

Hours of Operation: Summer, 8 a.m. to sunset Winter, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Youth Sports Program has all seasonal athletic sports, to include cheerleading. The ages range from 5 to 17. For more information, call 449-6714.

New River has intramural sports open to active duty military, Department of Defense employees and family members ages 18 and older. The sports include bowling, basketball, volleyball, softball, golf, soccer and flag and tackle football. For more information, call 449-5609/0294.

If you need it and don’t have it, there is a good chance you can get it at gear issue.

All recreation equipment can be used free of charge. However, late fees will be passed to patrons at a rate of 50 cents per item per day from the original date of issue. Patrons are also expected to repair or replace damaged, lost or stolen equipment. Gear issue is located in Building AS-112. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information, call 449-6387.

There are two fitness facilities aboard New River and one aboard adjacent Camp Geiger. At the fitness facilities,you can find basketball and racquetball courts as well as weight machines, free weights and much more.
