Unaccompanied Housing aboard Ault Field features 1,630 beds in 11 buildings. All residences are within walking distance to the flight line, Galley, Navy Exchange, Wendy’s (opening Spring 2016), Rice King, Subway, ATM machine and recreational, educational and religious services.
Newcomers will register at the Unaccompanied Housing Front Desk, open 24/7, at Navy Gateway Inns & Suites (NGIS) in Building 973.
Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The Housing Services Center serves all active-duty service personnel, their family members, federal employees and civilians by assisting them in finding suitable housing.
The rental market within the base housing area varies (like all cities) based on time of year. Rentals currently range from $500 to $1,500 a month for apartments or condominiums (one to three bedrooms); $900 to $2,500 for houses (one to five bedrooms); and $1,000 to $1,400 for townhouses (one to three bedrooms).
Along with providing rental assistance, the Housing Services Center helps mediate disputes between tenants and landlords and will investigate complaints, working toward an equitable resolution.
Forest City Residential Management now manages all Family Housing units. To begin the application and referral process, personnel must first contact the Housing Services Center on Ault Field at Building 2556 (Nor’Wester), 3675 W. Lexington St.

They run about 1,100 square feet for the three-bedroom unit and 1,200 square feet for the four-bedroom unit. Units have either carports or garages, dishwashers and a fenced yard. Located off Crescent Harbor Road, 3 miles from the Seaplane Base and its Navy Exchange and Commissary and 5 miles from Ault Field, this is a pet-friendly area with some restrictions.

Crescent Harbor Phase III
These 184 units were built by Pacific Northwest Communities in 2009; the three- and four-bedroom single-family homes are designated for E-6. The NAS Whidbey Island Religious Ministries Team provides worship and ministry for all faith groups. Protestant and Roman Catholic services are held weekly at the Chapel. Information on Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Latter-day Saints and other worship opportunities in the area is also available at the Chaplain’s Office.
Chaplains provide pastoral care and counseling for active duty, Reserve military personnel, retirees and their family members. You may schedule appointments by calling or visiting the Chaplain’s Office. Walk-in appointments are also available.
CREDO Detachment Whidbey Island provides a program of free retreats and workshops to enable military members and their families to develop personal and spiritual resources. Retreats include, but are not limited to, Marriage Enrichment Retreats, Family Enrichment Retreats, Personal Resiliency Retreats, Marriage Enrichment Workshops, Marriage Preparation Workshops, Suicide Intervention and Prevention Workshops, and Bystander Intervention training. “Just Up The Street (JUTS)” is a unique program for Sailors and Marines. JUTS is held from 7 to 10 p.m. every Friday at Barracks 12 in the common area. It begins with games followed by a free meal, music and a brief, lively discussion of current issues of interest to those who attend.
Other special events include the annual Harvest Festival around Halloween, the Chapel Easter Egg Hunt, Concerts on the Lawn and seasonal events at Easter and Christmas.
Defense Commisary Agency (DECA)
The NAS Whidbey Island Commissary completed an addition and renovation in April 2004 at a cost of approximately $9.5 million. The total store and receiving area increased from 39,408 square feet to 67,612 square feet.
In September 2007, the Commissary upgraded to a new IBM front end checkout system, providing updated electronic check processing with four self-checkout stations along with 12 registers.
Located opposite the Navy Exchange, the Commissary has newly expanded sections for fresh produce, meat, deli/bakery, sushi bar, rotisserie chicken, freshly made sandwiches and enhanced fresh seafood. The store added the Wellness Center, Wall of Value, which includes Club Packs, Storewide Organics and Diet Sections. The Commissary’s most important goal is to preserve and enhance this valuable benefit by providing outstanding customer service and providing quality products at the lowest cost possible. Naval Hospital Oak Harbor
This five-bed hospital on NAS Whidbey Island is one of three rural community hospitals within a 40-mile radius. The hospital is a TRICARE Prime facility that serves active duty, their family members, eligible retired military personnel and their families. Normal hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday throughFriday.
Ambulatory services include a Birthing Center, Dental Clinic, Family Medicine, General Surgery, Internal Medicine, Laboratory, Pharmacy, Radiology, Behavioral Health, OB-GYN, Occupational Health, Operational/Flight Medicine, Deployment Health Center, Optometry Clinic, Orthopedic Clinic, Pediatrics, Physical Therapy, Preventive Medicine and a Substance Abuse and Rehabilitation Program.
Patients who need treatment or consultation beyond the scope of this facility are referred to other military hospitals or civilian facilities. Designated Sea Duty Commands Walk-In Clinic hours are 7 to 8:30 a.m. Monday through Friday. It is in the Flight Medicine Clinic.
Shore-based active duty are assigned to the Family Medicine Clinic and are to call the TRICARE Regional Appointment Center (TRAC) at 800-404-4506 or their Team Scheduler to make a same-day appointment.
Family Medicine, Pediatrics and Aviation Medicine clinics are team-based Medical Home Port clinics. An entire team is responsible for your health care. In addition to your primary care manager (PCM) a registered nurse, a licensed practical nurse, a Corpsman/Medical Assistant and a medical clerk will partner with you to develop a closer relationship with your PCM Team. Family Medicine and Pediatric Medical Home Ports have extended hours: 4 to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The clinic is closed on Sunday and all federal holidays. The Pharmacy dispenses new and renewal prescriptions from 7:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and on Saturday for Medical Homeport Clinic only from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. During these hours, a pharmacist is required to be available. Refill prescriptions are dispensed 7:30 a.m. to 8 p.m.Monday through Friday; as well as 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Holidays. Only refills that have been called in prior to the day of pick-up can be filled on weekends.

Naval Hospital Oak Harbor has three state-of-the-art Labor and Delivery rooms that rival those in major civilian hospitals. Stork parking and video-teleconferencing for deployable dads are also available for new parents.
Health Promotions offers a wide range of classes including Tobacco Cessation, Weight Management, Shipshape, Healthy Heart and Diabetes Self-Management.
Dental provides a full spectrum of care to all military personnel attached to the air station and tenant activities. Clinic hours are 7:15 a.m. to 3:45 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Navy Gateway Inns & Suites
Transient personnel on orders can stay among a selection of 130 rooms in this five-star-rated facility. All rooms have queen-size beds; suites have living rooms, some with kitchenettes and pull-out bed. When available, officers, enlisted, family members and DOD personnel on leave status with valid ID are eligible to stay on a Space-A status. Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society
The Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS) is a nonprofit charitable organization designed to provide, in partnership with the Navy and Marine Corps, financial, educational and other assistance to members of the Navy and Marine Corps and their eligible family members, as well as retirees and widows when in need. It is a volunteer-based organization on the Seaplane Base in Building 13.
The office is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Those on emergency leave are seen first as walk-ins. For after-hours emergency assistance, call 877-272-7337. NMCRS offers budget counseling and education, and financial assistance in the form of loans and grants to meet emergencies such as funeral expenses, medical and dental bills, emergency transportation, food, rent and utilities, disaster relief assistance, essential car repairs and more. A Budget for Baby class is offered the first Tuesday of every month to educate soon-to-be parents on everything from DEERS to new expenses to helpful websites and resources.
The NMCRS Whidbey office has a visiting nurse who makes hospital or home visits to eligible clients in the interest of improving their quality of life by promoting understanding of information about the individual’s health issues. Visits are frequently made to new mothers and infants, to patients recovering from surgery and to patients with chronic health problems. The visiting nurse will see patients of any age.
NMCRS Whidbey Island has a large uniform and thrift shop at the same site with a large selection of uniforms and baby clothes. Hours of operation are 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, and for military uniform shopping, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Donations are accepted from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
NMCRS has more than 3,000 trained volunteers, both ashore and aboard ships, who accomplish the major portion of the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society’s work. Retired Activities Office (RAO)
The Retired Activities Office (RAO) is in Building 13 on the Seaplane Base. The all-volunteer staff is dedicated to keeping retirees and their families apprised of their benefits and informed of changes to policies and legislation. The greatest service provided by the RAO is assistance to new widows, including initial death reports and subsequent applications to the Defense Finance Accounting Service. Processing of Veterans Affairs and Social Security applications and benefits is also provided. Assistance is extended to all branches of the military. Volunteers are always sought to help at the RAO. Current hours of operation are 9 a.m. to noon Monday and Wednesday, call to verify hours.
Inside the city limits, water, sewer and garbage services are provided by the City of Oak Harbor. The Utilities Department also issues license tags for dogs and cats.

Veterinary Treatment Facility
Located in Building 13 of the Seaplane Base, the veterinarian provides care for dogs and cats by appointment. Services include routine exams, microchipping, spaying and neutering, dental procedures, animal health certificates for travel, testing and vaccinations. The facility also treats minor illnesses and provides grooming products, flea treatments, heartworm preventatives and other items at reasonable prices. Some products require a visit, exam and/or prescription. The veterinary staff also provides complete medical care to military working dogs and works with military food inspectors to provide food safety and quality assurance throughout the installation.
