MWR Administrative Office
Located in Building 1 on Langley Street, this office includes the MWR installation program director and operations manager, administration, marketing, personnel and the business manager.
Human Resource Office
MWR is an equal opportunity employer and accepts applications Monday through Friday. Various employment opportunities are available. A merit promotion program offers employees the opportunity for advancement. Permanent part-time employees earn annual and sick leave. Medical and life insurance, retirement and disability insurance are offered to all full-time employees.
Marketing & Sponsorship
This office is the information center for the MWR department. The marketing director is the point of contact for sponsorship, special events, indoctrinations, command briefs and homecomings. Annual special events include the Navy Run, the Month of the Military Child Carnival, the Military Family Appreciation Carnival, intramural tournaments, concerts and more.
Fitness, Aquatics and Sports
Located in Building 614 on Gillis Street, the gym offers exercise and aerobic fitness equipment. There are weight rooms, complete with Olympic weights, dumbbells and benches. Also available are steam and sauna rooms for men and women. The facility includes a basketball court and two racquetball courts. Athletic gear issue includes towels and sports equipment. Lockers are available on a daily or monthly basis.
The Athletic Office, located in the gym, is the center for all types of sports programs. Intramural sports include: softball, flag football, golf, tennis, racquetball, basketball, indoor volleyball, sand volleyball and soccer. Most sports are offered twice a year, and there is fierce competition for the coveted Captain’s Cup awarded annually to the top command.
Many special events are offered, such as softball tournaments, 5K annual runs and walks, and the Navy 10K Run/5K Walk.
McCaffrey Softball Complex
The McCaffrey Complex features four playing fields, each with a 275-foot fence, spectator bleaches, restroom facilities, second-floor scorers and announcer’s booths for all fields and electronic scoreboards on fields 2 and 4. The complex is used throughout the year by intramural leagues, graybeard leagues and various tournaments. The McCaffrey Softball Complex also offers a concession stand, which sells food and beverages.
Located in Building 867 on Enterprise Avenue, this high-tech facility is free for active-duty service members, family members, reservists, retirees and authorized civilian patrons.
The facility offers a complete line of cardio and strength training equipment. The cardio area features treadmills, stair machines, elliptical machines, cross-trainers, and stationary and recumbent bikes. Most of the cardio equipment is connected to a system that allows you to listen to television programs and radio stations. There are two strength-training areas: a free weight area, which offers Olympic weights, and a second area that offers two complete lines of Nautilus and Cybex strength-training equipment. Qualified instructors offer a variety of TRX, aerobics, kickboxing, Pilates, yoga and step classes several times a week.
Family Fitness Center
The Family Fitness Center is above the Youth Center Gym in Building 2069. The Family Fitness program offers an environment for promoting healthier lifestyles to families in the NAS Jacksonville community. The goal of the center is to keep the entire family healthy by providing an environment for families to meet their fitness needs, in a family-friendly atmosphere. A qualified fitness instructor/trainer is available to assist patrons with their fitness goals. The center offers a full circuit of Life Fitness equipment.
The outdoor swimming pool and splash park is next to Building 419 on Allegheny Street and is open seasonally. The pool is 50 meters by 25 yards, with a graduated depth to 6 feet. The facility includes a bathhouse and showers. The outdoor pool offers a swim lessons for all ages, aqua aerobic classes and lifeguard training. Pool parties are also available.
Inside the base gym, the indoor swimming pool is 50 meters by 25 yards, with a graduated depth to 12 feet. The pool also serves as a training area for military requirements. Year-round activities include aqua aerobics, swim lessons, scuba lessons, recreational swimming and lifeguard training.
Recreation and Services
Outdoor Fields and Courts
Several fields and courts are scattered around the base that are available for commands to use. Commands wishing to reserve court or field space in advance may do so through the base gym.
Six lighted and two nonlighted tennis courts are located near the Birmingham gate. Reservations are not required. Two additional lighted tennis courts are at the Visitor’s Quarters on Mustin Road.
Freedom Lanes and Pro Shop
The bowling center is on Gillis Street in Building 609. The facility has 24 lanes with automatic scoring and bumpers for children. Bowling lanes are flush to area flooring, making them easily accessible for children and the young at heart. The center has a large game room with pool tables, arcade games, TVs and lockers.
The center offers open bowling, league bowling and extreme bowling, a high-energy bowling experience with music and lights.
The Gutterball Grill snack bar serves food and alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages daily.
Other events include daily specials, summer and winter leagues, intramural leagues, young at heart leagues, command functions and birthday parties. The center also features a pro shop with professional fitting and drilling services. Individual and group lessons are available.
Navy Community Recreation (Tickets and Travel)
The Information, Tickets and Travel office is in Building 953A next to the Navy Exchange. The program offers discount ticket sales for special events, as well as area attractions, hotel information and cruise booking. Also offered are regional brochures, monthly bus tours on a 24-passenger tour bus and other special services. Active-duty military, retirees, dependents, Department of Defense civilians and all MWR authorized patrons can purchase tickets.
All prices include a surcharge.
Golf Course and Pro Shop
Located in Building 809 on Mustin Road, the NAS Jacksonville Golf Course offers 27 holes of championship golf for all ages and skill levels. The Red and White courses are each a par 36, while the Blue Course is a par 35. The Red and White Course plays to a demanding 6,890 yards, par 72. The addition of the new White Course has added to the landscape of the original Red and Blue courses. The holes wind through beautiful, tree-lined fairways that are complemented with rich-blue ponds. A full practice facility is available, as well as a PGA professional staff to meet every golfer’s need. It is one the finest golf courses in the Jacksonville area.
Mulberry Cove Marina and Navy Outdoor Recreation
Mulberry Cove Marina is on the south end of Ranger Street, along the banks of the beautiful St. Johns River. The marina store offers bait, ice, sandwiches, beer, soda, fishing licenses, fishing tackle, sunglasses, T-shirts, outdoor recreation knives, basic boat parts and various sundries to meet all your boating needs. The marina also has non-ethanol marine grade gasoline pier-side and a free boat ramp.
For boat owners there are slips, moorings and dry storage available on a daily, monthly and yearly rental basis. Fresh water and 30-amp station power are available at the slips. Live-aboards are only permitted on a temporary basis.
Sailing instruction and safe boating courses are also available. The marina offers rental equipment, including kayaks, canoes, surfboards, stand-up paddleboards and Flying Scot sailboats. Powerboats include pontoon boats, Boston Whalers, 14-foot Trackers and EdgeWater center consoles with fish finders. Reservations for powerboats must be made in person with a $25 deposit.
The marina also rents tents, sleeping pads, cots, camp stoves, lanterns, large grills, coolers and turkey fryers.
Fishing is permitted on the north side of Casa Linda Lake (catch-and-release only) and in the St. Johns River. Fishing is not permitted from the piers at Mulberry Cove Marina. A Florida fishing license is required for anyone age 15 to 65.
Several beautiful parks and picnic grounds are scattered across the base. Most are equipped with shelters, restrooms, barbecue pits, ball fields and playground equipment. Reservations are required and can be made up to six months in advance.

Liberty Recreation Center
This high-tech recreation center is in Building 816. It is designed to meet the needs of E-1 through E-6 single Sailors and geographical bachelors living aboard NAS Jacksonville. The Liberty Recreation Center features Internet access, Sony PlayStations, Xbox 360s, Wi-Fi, a movie area and a variety of recreational equipment, including pool, pingpong, outdoor basketball and more.
Hours are 10 a.m. to midnight daily. The center is open 365 days of the year.
Navy Flying Club
The Jax Navy Flying Club (JNFC) is in Building 847A on the north side of the main runway. You must be escorted on your initial visit. JNFC offers courses from private through airline transport pilot, and all training is Federal Aviation Administration Part 141- and VA-approved.
In addition to ground and flight instruction, the club offers aircraft checkouts and rentals, flight reviews, instrument proficiency checks and recurrent training in areas requested by club members. The organization is a sponsored club, and members must be active-duty military, reservists, National Guard, retired military, dependents, Civil Air Patrol or a Department of Defense employee.
Autos and RV
Auto Skills Center
The Auto Skills Center, in Building 622 on Birmingham Avenue, is a complete auto workshop with wheel balancing, 22 work bays, tool checkout, a paint booth and welding equipment. An ASE-certified master mechanic is available for advice and assistance. Classes are available regularly.
An in-house safety test is mandatory before participation. Long pants and closed-toe shoes are required. For safety reasons, children under 16 are not permitted in or around the facility at any time. For the deployed storage lot and Autorama Resale Lot, call the Auto Skills Center.
Forty-five sites are located on the corner of Birmingham Avenue and Mustin Road overlooking the St. Johns River. The park offers discounted weekly rates, 39 full sites (sewer, water and electric) and six tent sites (water and electric). Shower and restroom facilities are available.

Located behind the Auto Skills Center between Gillis and Jason streets, this self-service facility is open 24 hours. The car wash offers three wash bays and heavy-duty vacuums, power wands and brushes, a towel dispenser and other amenities, such as fragrance and protectors.
Deployed Storage (for vehicles)
This secured lot allows storage from overnight to six months for deployments and for hospitalizations in excess of 30 days. For registration, stop by the Auto Skills Center or call 904-542-3227.
Storage Lot (for vehicles, RVs and trailers)
The storage lot provides gated storage with 24-hours access. Rates are on a monthly or yearly basis.
Autorama Resale Lot
The Autorama Resale Lot is on Birmingham Avenue. Vehicles, campers and boats may be sold on the lot. Stop by the Auto Skills Center and register your vehicle prior to parking it at the lot.
Restaurants and Catering
Mulligan’s Restaurant & Bar
This all-hands food operation is in Building 809 on Mustin Road, inside the golf clubhouse, and serves daily customers as well as golf food functions and small social events. An attractive setting offers a dramatic view overlooking the golf course. The full-service eatery offers breakfast from 6:30 to 10 a.m. and daily lunch specials. Social hours are at 4 p.m. every Wednesday and Friday.
The Gutterball Grill is in the bowling center, Building 609 on Gillis Street. A sandwich and snack bar serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, as well as alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages daily. The Gutterball Grill offers daily lunch specials. Dine in or takeout is available.
Dewey’s is in Building 608 between Gillis Street and Keily Street off Enterprise Avenue. The complex features Dewey’s, NAS Jax Bingo and the NAS Jax CPO Lounge. The lounge welcomes all chief petty officers, retired chiefs and their guests and offers a full-service bar.
The grand ballroom is a large, beautiful room that is home to NAS Jax Bingo and is available to cater private parties on Saturday. Lunchtime bingo is played 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Friday. Evening bingo is at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Monday, Tuesday and Thursday.
Dewey’s offers a full menu, a bar and a friendly atmosphere that is great for all ages. From its children’s menu to its large selection of beverages, Dewey’s will have something for everyone.
River Cove Catering and Conference Center and Officers’ Club
The River Cove Catering and Conference Center is the perfect venue on the river to host command functions, social affairs, dinner parties, weddings, conferences and command training. The center specializes in sit-down meals, buffets, dining in and out, and hors d’oeuvres, including butler service for all events.
The T-Bar in the Navy Gateway Inns & Suites is a full-service bar. It features a two-level deck that overlooks the St. Johns River. The T-Bar and deck are available for command functions.
