Navy family housing in the Puget Sound region
has been privatized under the Public/Private Venture
(PPV) housing initiative. There is housing at
Ft. Lawton in Seattle and Brier (Lynnwood), but
these units are scheduled to be closed in 2009 as
new housing becomes available in Marysville.
Currently 288 PPV units are located near the
Navy Support Complex north of Marysville at
Carroll's Creek Landing. These townhouses consist
of 85 two-bedroom units, 175 three-bedroom
units and 28 four-bedroom units. Rents are tied to
a member's Basic Allowance for Housing (BAH).
Rent includes water, sewer and trash. Waiting lists
for all units are maintained at the Housing
Resource Center.
The Navy is a limited partner in these units and
active-duty personnel have priority to rent the
units. These PPV units, however, are not traditional
military family housing. Residents must
comply with the rules of the civilian owner.
All incoming personnel are directed by their
orders to report to the HRC before making any
commitments for housing (rental or sales) in the
community. The housing office is located at the
Housing Welcome Center at the Navy Support
Complex, 13912 45th Avenue N.E., Marysville, WA
98271. Office hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.,
Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
The HRC maintains computerized rental listings
provided by property management companies,
individual landlords, brokers, and agents. The listing
consists of apartments, houses, duplexes, condominiums,
townhouses and studios.
The Rental Partnership Program (RPP) waives
security deposits and application fees for service
members participating in the program. Military
members will pay rent through an allotment. All
military must complete an application and
checklist and provide a copy of orders and page
2 prior to participating in the RPP. There are currently
40 apartment complexes participating in
this program.
