CDH provides quality child care in a loving, learning environment for children 6 weeks to 12 years old by Independent Navy Child Development Home Providers—military spouses (active duty or retired)—trained to offer child care in their own homes. The Child Development Center (CDC) is a nationally accredited program offering care for children of military personnel and DoD civilians by a professionally certified and trained staff. This program is recognized as setting the standard for military and civilian childcare across the nation. Children 6 weeks to 5 years old are accepted for regular weekly care, with hourly care provided on a space available/reservation basis. The Child Development Center is open to all MWR authorized patrons, and is open Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; closed Saturday, Sunday and holidays. The Teen Center (Building S-770 on Savitz Drive) offers teens a great cure for “There’s nothing to do!” blues. The Teen center provides age appropriate, supervised activities for sixth through twelfth graders. Amenities include: pool table, large-screen TV, computers with Internet access, video game systems, board games, concessions and much more. Teens also have access to the Youth Center’s Tech Lab with 10 computers, all with Internet access. Special events, holiday celebrations, recreational skill classes, trips and tours are offered throughout the year. Registration is required after the first visit. Family members of all MWR authorized patrons are eligible users the Teen Center, open Monday through Friday, 2:15 to 6 p.m.; Saturday, open as posted, closed Sunday and holidays. The Youth Program provides programs that effectively contribute to the morale and well being of youth in grades Kindergarten through twelfth. The program focuses on assisting children in learning to make appropriate decisions about their own behavior. It also help youngsters overcome the stress and trauma associated with relocating and adjusting to new friends and peer groups. Each activity has been designed to enhance a child’s existing skills, promote physical fitness, encourage creativity, cultivate new interest areas and develop lifelong recreation skills.

The School-Age Care Program consists of Before and After School Programs, Play Days, and Summer Day Camp. Indoor activities include group games, board games, figurine and doll play, puzzles, play houses, foosball, video games, arts and crafts, computer play, and lip-synch. Outdoor play activities include playground time, basketball, soccer, hikes, kick ball, parachute play and more.

The Youth Center at 936 Savitz Dive also offers special events, “Kids’ Night Out,” Movie Nights, ballet/jazz/tap classes, karate classes, roller skating and other recreational activities.

The Navy Youth Program is open to all MWR authorized patrons. Hours: Before and After School, 6:30 to 9 a.m. and 3 to 5:45 p.m.; Saturday Play Days, 1 to 5 p.m.; Holiday Play Days, 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Summer Camp, 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.; Family Recreation Nights conducted Saturday, 6 to 9 p.m. at N-82 Gym.
