Men and women in uniform in the service of our country are an integral part of what makes our region special.Your generosity and volunteerism is well documented and this certainly adds significantly to our collective quality of life. We are very proud of the Navy family and the partnership that has endured for decades between our civilian and military residents.

Letter from the Commanding Officer

Welcome to Naval Air Station Oceana and Dam NeckAnnex. Our goal is to be the finest installation in the Navy. Naval Air Station Oceana is the Navy’s premier East Coast Master Jet Base and the largest employer in Virginia Beach. It encompasses almost 6,000 acres and is host to Commander, Strike Fighter Wing, Atlantic and five Carrier Air Wings.

Naval Air Station Oceana is a virtual city in itself—complete with a commissary, shopping mall, bank, post office, credit union, chapel, championship golf course, and a world-class gym. Oceana also has the Navy’s only Child Development Center with the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver rating given by the U.S. Green Building Council.

Because of its ideal location and beautiful year-round climate, you’ll find Virginia Beach offers something for everyone. The people are friendly, helpful and glad to have you join their community. Throughout the Hampton Roads Area, you will be treated with warm hospitality.

Members of the Oceana team are proud of who they are and what they do for the Navy and nation. As a new member of this elite organization, you will find your tour at Naval Air Station Oceana and its tenant commands both challenging and rewarding.

Welcome Military Members and Families,

Whether you are moving to Virginia Beach for the first time or returning, I speak for the city and community when I say we are glad to have you here with us! You will find Virginia Beach is a friendly community with citizens who are respectful of the sacrifices you and your family have made as part of your military service. I have lived in Virginia Beach all my life and once you have spent some time here, you will understand why I stayed.

Virginia Beach has a lot to offer, whether you are single or raising a family. Our parks and recreation centers are second to none and located in close proximity to all of our neighborhoods.We invite you to explore the miles of beach front, kayak the waterways, and hike the trails of Seashore State Park. Enjoy our first rate Aquarium or take a whale-watching cruise. For entertainment there is the Amphitheater with top name groups, the Sandler Center for cultural events, and a myriad of art galleries.
