Naval Base Ventura County | Arrival
AIR ARRIVAL
The closest airports to NBVC are Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), which is about one and a half hours south of the bases, or the Oxnard Airport, which is less than a 30-minute drive north. LAX has only one shuttle bus service (Roadrunner Shuttle) to Ventura County, but no shuttles go to the bases. The LAX shuttle cost is about $50.

Oxnard Airport does not offer any shuttle service to the bases. Because taxi services can be costly, it is best to make prior arrangements for your sponsor to meet you at Oxnard or LAX.

TRAIN AND BUS ARRIVAL
An AMTRAK Train Station is located in downtown Oxnard, approximately 15 miles from NBVC.Also, a Greyhound Bus Station is located at the AMTRAK Station. There is no shuttle to the bases, and taxis are expensive. Be aware that the train station is not an area to walk around in at night. Therefore, arrangements should be made with your command and/or your sponsor to meet you upon arrival.

CAR ARRIVAL
The NBVC Point Mugu site is located on Highway 1 (Pacific Coast Highway) between the Las Posas Road and Wood Road exits. If you are arriving on Highway 101 (Ventura Freeway) from the north or south, take the Las Posas Road exit and go south. Continue on Las Posas through stop signs and stop lights at the following intersections: Pleasant Valley, 5th Street and Hueneme Road. Las Posas crosses over Highway 1 (Pacific Coast Highway) and dead-ends into the Los Posas Road gate. During working hours (see Gate Hours below), the gate guard can provide directions to Security or to Building 1. After working hours, cross over Highway 1 and make a right-hand turn onto a frontage road, before you get to the gate. The frontage road will take you to Security (halfway between the Los Posas Gate and the Main Gate). If the Security Office is closed, continue on the frontage road until you reach the stop sign which is the Main Gate. Turn left to reach the gate guard.

The NBVC Port Hueneme site is located at the corner of Ventura Road and Pleasant Valley Road. Take Highway 101 and take the Las Posas exit, cross over the freeway (westbound) to Pleasant Valley Road (through the fields and toward the ocean) all the way to the Pleasant Valley Gate at Port Hueneme. If you take Highway 1, go pass the NBVC Point Mugu site and take the Pleasant Valley exit; cross over Highway 1 and continue on to the Pleasant Valley Gate at the Port Hueneme site.
