Naval Hospital Jacksonville and reserve units earn Navy Blue H Health Promotion and Wellness award

Naval Hospital Jacksonville its hospital and five naval branch health clinics (NBHCs), Navy Operational Support Center (NOSC) Jacksonville, Operational Health Support Unit Jacksonville Headquarters, and 17 of Operational Health Support Unit Jacksonville's detachments have earned the Navy Surgeon General's Health Promotion and Wellness Blue H Award for 2018.

"It's an honor to receive the Blue H, which is a reflection of our dual commands' abilities to integrate readiness and health," said Capt. Matthew Case, Naval Hospital Jacksonville commander and Navy Medicine Readiness and Training Command Jacksonville commanding officer. "This award also recognizes the teamwork with our medical reserve units."

Gold Star (highest level) was achieved by the hospital; NBHCs Jacksonville, Kings Bay, and Mayport; NOSC Jacksonville; OHSU Jacksonville Headquarters; and OHSU Jacksonville Detachments E, H, J, K, N, P, Q, and R. NBHC Key West and OHSU Detachment G earned Silver Eagle recognition, while NBHC Albany and OHSU Jacksonville Detachments A, B, C, D, I, L, M, and O received the Bronze Anchor.

The Blue H recognizes Navy medical commands for excellence in clinical primary prevention, community health promotion, and medical staff health. The award assesses health topics including responsible drinking, injury and violence-free living, healthy eating, active living, reproductive and sexual health, psychological health, tobacco-free living, and weight management.
