There are two nearby airports.
• Okaloosa Regional Airport is north of Hurlburt Field on State Road 85, near Eglin Air Force Base
• Pensacola Airport is on Airport Road in Pensacola, about 35 miles from Hurlburt Field


Upon arrival contact your sponsor or the Military Personnel Flight Customer Coordination Center. Your initial sign-in will be with your MPF CCC. If you arrive after duty hours, check in at the billeting office and sign-in to your MPF CCC the following duty day.  Your MPF CCC will set a date to attend Commando Connection, a mandatory orientation briefing.

Finance is available at 9 a.m. every Tuesday in the base theater for newcomers to file their travel vouchers. Bring a pen, four copies of your orders, all receipts associated with the move and vehicle pick-up documents and marriage license, if applicable.

Commando Connection

Spouses are encouraged to attend this mandatory briefing where you will:
• Hear from the wing commander and many agencies on base, including the medical group, services, security forces and the Airman and Family Readiness Center
• Be introduced to local law enforcement and receive safety briefings from disaster preparedness officials about hurricane preparations.


The Commando Inn lodging facility offers 210 visitors quarters, eight distinguished visitors' quarters and 24 temporary lodging facilities. Military members and civilian employees on official TDY to the installation may make reservations anytime. If rooms are not available for official travel, lodging will arrange local commercial quarters. Space available reservations may also be requested in advance, but can't be confirmed until 24 hours prior to arrival and can be confirmed for up to three days, provided rooms are available at that time. The reception area and lobby feature a guest business office with high-speed Internet, phone and local fax service. This office is open to registered guests 24 hours a day.

VOQ rooms are single occupancy with queen-size beds and private bath. VAQ rooms are single occupancy with queen size bed and shared bath. VOQ, VAQ and DV rooms are stocked with snacks and beverages sold in rooms on an honor basis. Children under the age of 12 are not allowed in VOQ or VAQ rooms due to the high aircrew and student populations using our rooms and the access to the amenities. All rooms have cable television, clock/radios, irons and ironing boards, refrigerators, microwaves and full telephone service.

TLFs are for military families that are arriving and departing the installation with dependents. The rooms are single bedroom efficiency apartments with a queen-size bed, sleeper sofa, sleeper chair, roll away, crib, high chair and full kitchen with amenities (refrigerator/ freezer with ice maker, dishwasher, stove, microwave and full complement of cookware and utensils).

ID Cards

When you need a new ID card, visit the military personnel flight customer service counter in Bldg. 90210, Rm. 143. Military members need not be in uniform, but you must present a military image in accordance with Air Force Instruction 36-2903, Dress and Personal Appearance of Air be present for dependent ID care issue/ renewal. Household Goods

If expecting a shipment of personal property, call the Traffic Management Office upon arrival. To arrange for delivery of shipments, bring copies of your orders to TMO, Bldg. 90210, Rm. 157, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday-Friday. For more information, call (850) 884-6051.

Registering Children for School

Simply go to the school and present proof of birthday and immunization against polio, diphtheria, measles, rubella, pertussis, tetanus, and mumps. Florida law requires physical examinations for all students entering the school system for the first time, regardless of grade. Any child 5 years old by Sept. 1 is eligible for public kindergarten. Children may enter first grade if they are 6 years old by Sept. 1 and have completed a kindergarten program. For details on provisions for admission, contact any elementary school or write to the appropriate county superintendent's office. Postal Service Center

While assigned to Hurlburt Field, you'll receive your mail at your home address if you reside in family housing or off base. Dormitory residents receive mail at lock boxes in the dormitories or in the postal service center. In any event, you should report to the postal service center, in Bldg. 90228, to let them know you've arrived and give them your address. You may have your mail sent to the following general delivery address to hold your mail until you arrive: GENERAL DELIVERY, 437 Tully St., Box 1000, Hurlburt Field, FL 32544-5715. Vehicle Registration

Personnel assigned to Hurlburt Field and their family members who operate privately owned vehicles on the installation must register their vehicles within 72 hours of their arrival on base. Pass and Registration, in Bldg. 90210, Rm. 140, is open Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

To register your vehicle you must have proof of vehicle insurance, equivalent to Florida's minimum insurance requirements, state vehicle registration and military identification card and driver's license. If the vehicle already has a Department of Defense vehicle decal issued from another base and it's located on the lower left driver's side of the windshield, bring the six-digit decal number so it can be reissued at Hurlburt.

You can also register your motorcycle at Pass and Registration. Riders must wear a helmet and safety vest. Motorcycle operators must attend a motorcycle safety course. Temporary registration can be obtained at Pass and Registration until you attend the safety course. After attendance, registration is accomplished. The speed limit on Hurlburt Field is 25 mph, unless otherwise posted.

Weapon Registration

Personnel residing in base dormitories or temporary living facilities must register any privately-owned firearm within 72 hours of arrival (dormitory and TLF residents must store their weapons in the security forces armory). To register your firearm, you must first coordinate with your first sergeant, then call (850) 884-6261.
