Rail and Transit Access

Yuba County’s state routes 20, 49, 65 and 70 provide ample transportation avenues for local businesses. The county is also near to interstates 80 and 5, the Sacramento International Airport and the Inland Port of Sacramento. The county itself has two airports: the Yuba County Airport, which can accommodate freight carriers, jet air carriers and other general aviation aircraft, as well as a privately owned airport with public access. The county is connected to the nation’s railways system via the Union Pacific Railroad and has local bus service and commuting options as well.

Natural Resources

Beyond its vast agricultural production, Yuba County exhibits considerable biodiversity. In fact, according to the Yuba-Sutter Economic Development Corp., ecological studies suggest Yuba County is the most biodiverse single county in the contiguous United States. In particular, there are many flowering plant species. National protected areas within the county include portions of the Plumas National Forest and Tahoe National Forest. There are also extensive natural areas consisting of forestation, grassland, riparian and other habitats.

Beale AFB has a huge economic impact on the Yuba-Sutter Community. According to the Yuba-Sutter Economic Development Corp., in fiscal 2015 the base supported 4,926 military personnel, 1,339 civilians and 5,118 dependents with a total payroll of more than $323 million. Beale spent more than $160 million in local contracts in 2015. A total of 1,778 jobs were created with an estimated annual dollar value of $77.6 million.
