Child Development Center 2, Offut Air Force Base

 

Child Development Center (CDC)

The Offutt CDC is located in Building 5096 at 25th Street and Kennedy Drive. They can be reached at 402-294-2203. The Center is DoD certified.

There is an additional CDC located on base in Building at 302 Nelson Drive Bldg 187.

Programs Offered

The CDC provides full-time care for children 6 weeks through five years old on a space available basis. Hourly care for children 12 months to 10 years of age is available but reservations are required and space is limited. Extended Duty Care and the Give Parents a Break program.

Costs

Fees are figured on DOD Uniformed Fees and Charges and are based on total family income.

Family Child Care Program

Offutt has providers who do child care in their homes To find available providers go to Military Childcare.com.

Child Care for PCS

The A&FRC can also give you a certificate for 20 hours of free child care for each of your children, to be used during the first 60 days you are on station. This is an Air Force Aid Society outreach program for Air Force active duty only, and all ranks are eligible.

School Age Program

The Youth Center offers a before and after school activities program for 130-135 children, ages 5-12. The program includes transportation to and from eight elementary schools in the local area. It is important that immunizations are current.

Respite Care

Air Force Aid Society (AFAS) will pay up to a limit of $500 for respite care of a special needs family member. The family must apply for the respite care assistance through the Family Advocacy office at the Ehrling Bergquist Clinic, 402-294-7886. A certificate is issued, which they then bring to the A&FRC where a casefile will be opened. The family can then arrange for the respite care (not available on base) and the provider is reimbursed with an AFAS check.

Bellevue Public Schools Partners with Parents Program

The Bellevue Schools offers an early childhood development through activities like drop-in playgroups, homemade toy crafts, learning to read and other parental support. Family nights and home visits are available to help newcomers settle into the community. You can contact the schools office at 402-293-4000.

Youth Services

Youth Services

Offutt's Youth Programs offer sports, classes, social events, school-age programs, summer camps, specialty camps, peer counseling, youth diversion and relocation/ transition support for youth, ages 5 to 18 years old. Parents must register their children and pay an annual $50 Membership Fee.

Youth Sponsorship Program

The Youth Center offers a Youth Sponsorship Program, where incoming youth are matched to the interested Offutt youth in their age group, and letters are exchanged. This is a great way to learn about your new duty station prior to your arrival.

If you did not get a form in a sponsor packet, you can send an email requesting a youth sponsor. Include your name, mailing address, age, grade in school, projected date of arrival and any questions you might have to the Offutt Youth Center.

Youth Employment

Employment opportunities for teens in the Omaha metro are good. You must be 16 years old to work in the state of Nebraska. There are fast food and telemarketing opportunities, in addition to the seasonal jobs, such as lifeguarding and parks activities.

Youth Center

The Offutt Youth Center, Building 5085, offers a comprehensive program of organized activities for children in three age categories: Junior, ages 5-8; Pre-Teens, ages 9-12; and Teens, ages 13-18. Hours and activities vary by season and school year. Youth Center programs are designed for different age groups, for example, the seniors have activities for their age group only. Call the Youth Center for more information.

Classes are offered in gymnastics and martial arts.

Youth Religious Programs

The Chapel offers both Protestant and Catholic Sunday School classes, as well as youth groups by age groups. Call the SAC Chapel for more information.

Youth Sports

The year-round sports program includes soccer, baseball, softball, flag-football, basketball, and swimming lessons.
