There are eight permanent dormitories on base. Staff sergeants (E-5) and above are granted single-rate basic allowance for quarters and are not permitted to reside in the dormitories. There are plenty of affordable one- and two-bedroom apartments off base. Normally, Airmen between grades E-1 and E-4 are housed in the dormitories. All dormitory personnel are assigned a private room, and recent upgrades and renovations have made dorm life even more pleasant for residents.
HOUSING (ON AND OFF BASE)
The Housing Management Office is ready to support you in the transition to your new home and community. When you arrive at Davis-Monthan, you are welcome to visit the HMO to receive counseling and guidance before entering into any written lease or rental or sales contract for housing.
At Davis-Monthan, military family housing is privatized. Lend Lease/Soaring Heights Communities owns the family housing and is responsible for maintaining, repairing, constructing and managing the community. In addition to your option to purchase and rent housing in the local community, you now may choose to live in privatized housing by signing a tenant lease agreement with Soaring Heights Communities. To apply for privatized housing, contact the HMO as soon as you know you are moving to Davis-Monthan Air Force Base to obtain a housing referral. The government housing team will provide you the latest information about privatized housing and details about the application process.
The HMO can also help you find rentals in the local area. Listings of apartments (furnished and unfurnished to include both long- and short-term rentals) and homes for rent can be obtained by visiting the HMO. Rental availability and prices vary throughout the year depending on the season. Most rentals will require first month’s rent and a security deposit equal to one and half times the monthly rent.
Find the HMO in the Soaring Heights Welcome Home Center at 8090 E. Ironwood St. For hours, call 520-228-5705.
