The Aero Club at Edwards AFB provides services to active-duty, reserve and retired military members; their spouses and dependents; DOD civilian personnel and contractors; and Civil Air Patrol members. The Aero Club offers primary flight training and VA-approved advanced training through the FAA-certificated flight school (141). The club has about 100 members and a modern fleet of seven airplanes — three Cessna 172 S models with Garmin GTN650 GPS, two G1000 Cessna 172 S Glass Cockpit airplanes and two Cessna 182 RGs for travel and complex ratings. The club uses the South Base runway for easy access to clear, blue California skies. Since all club aircraft are registered with the Air Force, they are authorized to land at nearly all U.S. military bases and can be used for temporary duty travel. The club offers a variety of courses such as flying companion seminars for passengers, an FAA-approved Private Pilot Ground School course, practical Garmin G1000 Glass Cockpit introductory classes and instrument currency refresher classes.

Arnold Park, at the end of Coliseum Drive, features playground equipment, covered picnic areas, a stage and restrooms. The park often hosts community gatherings in the spring and summer months and is available for rent through Outdoor Recreation.
Arts & Crafts Center

Arts & Crafts maintains an experienced and passionate team of professionals with deep expertise in all phases of design, planning and production. The art team is able to deliver innovative solutions to a variety of client projects offering embroidery, screen printing, framing, laser engraving, etching, dye-sublimation, vinyl cutting, premade gifts and awards. In addition to having a fully functional woodshop, we offer a variety of crafting classes held throughout the year for both adults and children.

The Auto Hobby Shop offers equipment, tools, supplies and working space for self-help maintenance and repair of automobiles and other vehicles. More than 10 stalls are available for major and minor auto repairs, as well as all the standard equipment necessary for auto repair work. Long pants are required in the work area, and children are not permitted access for safety reasons. Services offered at the center include brake drum and rotor turning, computerized wheel balancing and air conditioning maintenance. California smog certificate and repair are also available.
Open to youth and adults, the BMX track next to Arnold Park offers a competitive racetrack with multiple obstacles. All track users are required to wear appropriate safety gear. BMX bikes are available through the equipment loan program at Outdoor Recreation.
Branch Memorial Park
Near the South Gate, off Lancaster Boulevard
Branch Memorial Park features picnic areas, as well as Branch Pond. Branch Pond is open for fishing to individuals with valid base fishing licenses. Primitive camping is available. The park and camping are available for rental through Outdoor Recreation at 661-275-CAMP (2267). There is no potable water at Branch Park.
5217 Lathrop Drive
FamCamp features 36 full-hookup slots for recreational vehicles, a dayroom with exercise equipment and cable TV, a laundry room, and shower and restroom facilities. Twenty-two overflow slots, without hookups, are also available. Payments for use of the camp are made at FamCamp or Outdoor Recreation. FamCamp is also equipped with Wi-Fi for all fee-paying customers.

The fitness and sports center offers everything you need to get and stay in shape: cardio machines, resistance weights, the “Fitness on Request” aerobics kiosk, intramural sports, two racquetball courts, an outside track, basketball courts and a 6,000-square-foot, high-intensity and free-weight workout facility.
High Desert Lanes Bowling Center

High Desert Lanes Bowling Center is a 20-lane facility equipped with pin spotters and automatic scoring. The pro shop offers balls, shoes, and ball measuring and drilling, as well as special orders and bowling instruction for all ages.

Information, Tickets and Tours provides discounted tickets for attractions in addition to arranging various tours in and around Southern California. Tickets for popular Los Angeles and San Diego area attractions include Disneyland, Universal Studios, Knott's Berry Farm, SeaWorld and Six Flags Magic Mountain. Discounted tours to Los Angeles area attractions, including live studio audience shows, and shuttles to Las Vegas are also available.
Muroc Lake Golf Course

Edwards' Muroc Lake Golf Course offers a championship 185-acre, 18-hole, par-72 golf course. The facility includes a pro shop with the latest equipment, a driving range, and chipping, pitching and putting practice greens. Base intramural league matches, holiday tournaments, monthly tournaments and an active men's golf association are available for interested players. The club is a part of the Southern California Golf Association, which provides handicapping service. Golf lessons are available for men, women and juniors, along with group lessons by appointment. The on-site Sandbagger Grill provides short-order breakfast and lunch.
Oasis Aquatics Center

The Oasis pool is an indoor, 25-meter pool open throughout the year to all Edwards' personnel and their families and is staffed by qualified lifeguards at all times. The center offers American Red Cross lifeguard classes, water safety instruction, swimming lessons for all levels, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid.
The base has two outdoor pools open seasonally. Both the Club Muroc pool, at 275 Doolittle Parkway, and the Sonic Splash pool, at 24 Lathrop Drive, are open Memorial Day through Labor Day. A third outdoor pool, in the Mojave Sky Community Center, is operated by Corvias Military Living and is open to family housing residents.
Oasis Community Center

The Oasis Community Center features a variety of leisure-time activities and programs for the base community. The facility offers a game room with billiards, Ping-Pong tables, foosball and video games; lounge areas and separate conference rooms that have the latest audio-video capabilities; and computer access.
Off-Road Vehicle Areas
Edwards has three authorized off-road vehicle areas for base personnel and guests to enjoy recreational activities, two of which allow motorized vehicles. The Desert Wheels Motorcycle Club (www.desertwheelsmc.com) operates ORV Area 1, and you must be a member to ride in that area. ORV Area 3 is limited to mountain biking, hiking and running, while ORV Area 2 is open for all types of activities, including horseback riding. Before using any of the ORV areas, you must take a desert tortoise briefing provided by Environmental Management. Motor vehicle operators must also complete the approved SVIA safety training course. Outdoor Recreation offers a variety of information and outings for those looking for excitement outdoors. Programming includes anything from ocean to mountain, sea kayaking to land sailing, rock climbing to snow skiing. Custom trips such as backwoods nature hikes are also available.
Outdoor Recreation also provides a complete line of rental equipment to include bouncy castles, snow cone machines, tents, sleeping bags, skiing and snowboarding equipment, campers, trailers and more. Base hunting and fishing licenses can be purchased year-round. Outdoor Recreation is also a UPS drop-off point, bike maintenance shop and fully operational ski and snowboard shop. They also offer key-cutting services.
Piute Ponds is a freshwater marsh in the southwest corner of Edwards, accessible by using Shuttle Road, east of the Edwards sign on Rosamond Boulevard. The marsh is within the Pacific Flyway, a major North American migratory bird route. Two hundred and sixty-nine species have been recorded there. The area can be used for bird watching, photography, hiking, scenic driving and waterfowl hunting. Hunting season is open October through January, and licenses are required. Recreational Vehicle Storage
On Forbes Avenue at the intersection of Fitzgerald Boulevard (behind the fire station) and Forbes Avenue (near the
intersection of Gregorius)
RV Storage Lots have 362 spaces from 15 to 50 feet in size with monthly fees from $20 to $35. Recreational vehicle storage is essential to Edwards because parking an RV in military family housing on Edwards AFB is prohibited. The purpose of RV storage is to ensure that active-duty members living on base have access to park their RV in compliance with the housing rules. To fulfill that purpose, the assignment of spaces may be done on a priority system if spaces are full. Contact Outdoor Recreation for more information.
Skeet and Trap Activity
210 Adams Way
The Skeet and Trap Activity, located adjacent to the small arms range south of Rosamond Boulevard, offers outdoor sporting fun, including archery, skeet, sporting clays, and rifle and pistol shooting. Competitive shooting and social events are held regularly, and the facility can be reserved for group functions such as squadron shoots or parties. Base hunting and fishing licenses can be purchased year-round.
Scorpions Nest Paintball and Airsoft Field
Adams Way, down the road from Skeet and Trap
The Scorpions Nest fields are just down the road from the Skeet and Trap Activity, on the left. The paintball field is open for reservation only and caters to all experience levels. Equipment for rent is available on-site. The field can also be reserved for parties and squadron events. Call Outdoor Recreation for more information.
Coliseum Drive (near Wings Field)
Open to youth and adults, the skate park offers facilities for skateboard and roller skate use only. The rules are posted at the park. Hours vary depending on the season. All park users are required to wear appropriate safety gear.
101 Landfill Road
The Edwards Riding Stables have 53 stalls for private boarding of up to 53 horses, complete with feed and tack storage rooms. Stables are open daily to those boarding horses. The cost to board a horse begins at $55 for the first horse and $30 for each additional horse per month with an $80 deposit. These fees help maintain the stable facilities. Horse owners are responsible for feeding their horses and cleaning their stalls.
Other facilities include a lighted main riding arena, jumping arena, trail arena and four large exercise pens. Horses stabled at the Edwards Riding Stables must undergo quarantine until cleared by a vet. Horses must have a current Coggins test as well as other immunizations.
