Please call the Optometry Clinic at 747-5515 for a routine eye exam appointment. The Optometry Clinic sees non-Active Duty patients on a space-available basis.

Optometry provides routine vision exams for people needing spectacle prescriptions. The clinic also diagnoses and treats common eye diseases and can refer cases requiring more complex care to other medical specialties. Other miscellaneous services include: driver’s license exams, preschool screenings, retiree screenings, color vision testing, and intra-ocular pressure screening.

The Optometry Clinic is closed during lunch hour from 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m.

PATIENT ADVOCATE
Each clinic or section has a Patient Advocate who is available to resolve patient concerns in that particular clinic or section. If you are unable to work out a problem at that level, feel free to contact our Clinic Patient Advocate. If you have any concerns regarding your health care at the 319th Medical Group, please contact the Clinic Patient Advocate.

PEDIATRIC CLINIC
The Pediatric Clinic is a specialized area of health care delivery focused on providing care for children from newborn to 18 years of age. Acute appointments are provided daily. A legal guardian must accompany all patients during their appointment.

The pediatrician provides a wide range of services, to include Well-baby exams, initial assessments and follow-ups for acute and chronic illnesses. Patients who require services beyond the scope of this facility will be referred to a treatment center capable of providing the care needed. Routine, Wellness, Follow-up and Acute appointments are available by calling the 319 MDG appointment desk.

Well-baby exams are designed for infants from birth to 24 months of age; these appointments provide a complete preventive health care program. Services include complete physical examination, developmental evaluation, and instruction in nutrition, safety and other anticipatory guidance. Parents are responsible for scheduling all appointments at the designated intervals as follows: AGE: 3-day, 2 weeks, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, and 24 months, and yearly up to age 6 then every other year except for requirements on CDC and physical activities.

PHYSICAL THERAPY
Patients are seen in the Physical Therapy clinic by referral from your Primary Care Manager. Please contact the 319th MDG appointment desk at 747-5601 to schedule appointments.

The Physical Therapy Clinic is staffed by a Physical Therapist and two Physical Therapy Technicians. Physical Therapy services include, but are not limited to, evaluation and treatment of primarily orthopedic injuries/diagnoses. Physical Therapy treatments include manual therapy, therapeutic exercise techniques, functional rehabilitation programs, limited gait training and various pain relieving modalities. The goals of the Physical Therapy Clinic are pain reduction, restoration of function following an injury, and patient education. Through examination and individualized treatment programs, the Physical Therapy Clinic can treat existing problems and provide health care for patients with a variety of needs.

PUBLIC HEALTH
Public Health is responsible for educating and assisting military members and their family members on preventive medicine, disease control and medical intelligence.

RADIOLOGY
Routine x-rays for all eligible beneficiaries require a written/electronic referral from a health care provider. A technician is on-call weekends and holidays to support the Acute Care Clinic. There is no radiologist assigned to the clinic. All x-ray images produced at 319th MDG are transmitted to MacDill AFB radiologists for interpretation. Please make all requests for x-ray images to be taken to a downtown health care provider two days prior to appointment.

TRICARE Prime patients age 40 to 49 can refer themselves to Altru Clinic for a routine screening mammogram every two years and patients age 50 and over can refer themselves every year. If you do not meet the above criteria, you will need a consult from a physician to get a mammogram.

TRICARE
All Active Duty personnel are automatically enrolled and must remain in TRICARE Prime. For all other eligible beneficiaries, the TRICARE program offers three options: Prime, Standard, and Extra.

TRICARE Prime is the premium health care option offered by military hospitals and clinics, supported by contracted civilian health care companies. To assure that adequate professional staffing and resources are available, an enrollment process is necessary. Enrollees selecting this option choose a military Primary Care Manager (PCM) to provide or arrange for their health care needs. The TRICARE Prime option offers the normal primary health service provided by a military hospital or clinic, plus additional wellness and preventive care services. 

TRICARE Standard is a fee-for-service option that gives the greatest choice of civilian physicians, but this comes at the greatest cost. The cost of having this choice includes an initial amount, called a deductible, plus a percentage of subsequent charges, called cost shares

TRICARE EXTRA is similar to TRICARE Standard but offers discounts to patients when they use TRICARE network providers. This option allows beneficiaries to receive their care from civilian network providers at a reduced cost compared to TRICARE Standard. There are no claim forms to file — just pay your reduced cost share after satisfying the deductible. You may use a combination of the TRICARE Extra and Standard programs at any time, depending on whether you choose physicians inside or outside the network. There is no separate enrollment for either of these programs. Contact your Regional TRICARE Contractor to locate a network provider, hospital or pharmacy.

TRICARE Service Center is available in the Clinic on a walk-in bases Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The TSC is staffed with health care professionals who will assist you with choosing a TRICARE health plan, answering your benefits questions, making appointments for services at the 319th Medical Group, and providing claim information.
