Welcome to Carlisle Barracks, an outpost of pride and military tradition and the most strategic 500 acres in the Army. Nestled in the beautiful Susquehanna Valley, Carlisle Barracks is in Cumberland County in south central Pennsylvania, near the state capital at Harrisburg. Carlisle Barracks is the nation’s second-oldest active military base.
U.S. Army Garrison, Carlisle Barracks’ mission is to deliver and integrate base support to enable the mission of the U.S. Army War College and readiness for a self-reliant, globally responsive all volunteer Army. Carlisle Barracks houses the U.S. Army War College, Center for Strategic Leadership, Strategic Studies Institute, Peacekeeping and Stability Operations Institute, and Army Heritage and Education Center.
