After moving to a new location, you’ll want to know what educational options are available. The following chapter outlines Harford County and other local school systems, along with information about local libraries and higher education. There are also numerous private school, charter and home-school options for children in Harford County.
Maryland law requires that all schoolchildren be immunized against polio, diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus (DPT), measles, mumps and rubella (MMR), hepatitis B and varicella. The varicella immunization is required for all students unless they can show physician’s documentation of having had the disease. Students must submit an up-to-date immunization record.
Children entering kindergarten must be 5 years of age on or before Sept. 1 of the school year. For more details on vaccine and registration requirements, visit the school district’s website. You can also go to the Maryland State Department of Education website and search for “immunization.”
