The Consumer Affairs Office (CAO) provides information and guidance to Soldiers and their families about consumer issues. They review all types of contracts — vehicle purchases, property rental, warranty information, insurance and investments. Soldiers and their families are encouraged to seek advice prior to making large purchases such as vehicles. CARFAX reports and myFICO Trans Union, Equifax and Experian credit scores are also available free of charge.
The CAO provides assistance with consumer complaint resolution and mediation. They maintain a database of all consumer complaints and can provide clients with a complaint history for businesses. They can also inform the consumer about market trends and provide tips on how to become a better consumer. Service provided is on a walk-in basis.
