ARMY TRAVEL CAMPGROUND

Location: Smith Lake

Hours of Operation:
Monday-Sunday 24 hours
(Open year round; daily; 24 hour access)

Authorized Patrons: DoD ID Cardholders and their guests

Campground Amenities:
  • Bath houses with individual bath rooms
  • Sewage dump station, complimentary for registered campground guests
  • Coin operated washers and dryers
  • Fishing on the north side of the lake; Ft. Bragg and NC fishing permit required, no motorized watercraft
  • Mountain bike and hiking trails; Bike rentals available
  • Park and picnic areas with ADA playgrounds; volleyball and basketball courts (fees may apply)
  • Seasonal lake front operation to include swimming, paddle boat/canoe rental (fees apply)
  • Pets are not allowed in the park areas, at the beach, or in any of the cabins on the campground. Pets are allowed to stay in RVs, tents, and on the hiking trail. Pets must be on a leash at all times. Breed restrictions apply IAW Fort Bragg policy.

Small and Large Cabin Information:
  • Our small cabins sleep up to 4 and are equipped with 1 double bed, 1 set of bunk beds, a small fridge and microwave, a table and 4 chairs.
  • Our large cabins sleep up to 8 and feature 2 bedrooms (1 double bed, 1 set of bunk beds), a loft (futon sleeper), a living area (futon sleeper), a full size bathroom and kitchenette with a table and 4 chairs (a minimum 2 night stay is required).
  • All cabins are air-conditioned/heated. Smoking is not permitted in the cabins. Must bring own sheets, blankets, pillows and towels.
  • No pets are allowed. Violators will be asked to remove the pet immediately, and an additional $100 fee will be charged.

MOUNTAIN BIKE TRAILS

Authorized patrons: Open to general public

Services Provided: Rider registration required with fee payable at Smith Lake Recreation Area Office. Trail consists of three trail loops: Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced. Trail map and riding rules are posted at the trail head. All Fort Bragg regulations and laws apply in this area and are enforced by Military Police and Game Wardens.

PARK/BEACH

Smith Lake Beach and Cable Park will not open in 2018. Please be sure to check out other Smith Lake Recreation Area options and monitor the DFMWR website for updates.

PARKS ON FORT BRAGG/POPE FIELD

WILSON PARK

Location: Butner Road, McFayden Pond

Service Provided: Wilson Park is open to the public and does not require a reservation for use. First come first serve! Families may have picnics and use the playground. Rules are posted at the park. Bathrooms are available and maintained by Smith Lake.

WOODLAND/FLIGHTLINE PARKS

Services Provided: Woodland Park is the largest on Pope Field, perfect for units, squadrons, FRG functions of 1500+ guests. This park provides ample parking and is accessible off Armistead Street. Woodland Park offers many amenities such as Pavilions with BBQ grills, water and electricity supply, sand volleyball court, horseshoe pit and brand-new Americans’ with Disability Act (ADA) compliant playground area.

Flightline Park: If you enjoy watching airplanes land and take-off then this park is for you. Tucked away in the back of Pope Army Air Field near Manchester gate this is the perfect place to hold small and medium events. This medium size park has six Pavilions with BBQ grills, electricity, a new Americans’ with Disability Act (ADA) compliant playground area and a newly constructed parking area.

Equipment available includes: Campers, Canoes & kayaks, Moon bouncers, Climbing wall, Picnic & party equipment, Canopy tents, Tables & chairs, Grills & super cookers, Dunk tank, Lawn and garden equipment. Services Provided: This facility offers year-round skating, not only as a form of exercise, but as an affordable and constructive family leisure activity. It is the only ice rink, within a 60-mile radius that provides year-round ice skating. This facility has a comprehensive ice skating program, to include open skating, group and private lessons, figure skating clubs, parties (schools, units, and special interest groups), and private ice rental. This facility is easily accessible for both military and civilian patrons.

IN-LINE SKATING RINK/SKATEBOARD PARK

Services Provided: The skateboard park offers a safe and fun environment for recreational, unsupervised inline skating and skate boarding, during posted hours of operation.

HELMETS ARE REQUIRED. USE OF INLINE SKATING/SKATEBOARD PARK FACILITY IS AT YOUR OWN RISK; SKATING SESSIONS ARE UNSUPERVISED.
