The Augusta Public Transit system provides extensive public transportation services throughout Augusta-Richmond County. These include nine bus routes, access to Americans with Disabilities Act service (paratransit) and the Richmond Rural Transit service. APT employees travel over 2,313 miles each weekday to provide safe, courteous, reliable and efficient transit service to more than 3,000 daily customers. Seniors, students, disabled patrons and nonprofit organizations are eligible for discounted fares.

The Richmond County Transit fleet consists of one 17-passenger van (which is wheelchair-accessible), three 14-passenger vans and one 11-passenger van with lift (wheelchair-accessible). Unlike traditional public transportation, the service is a door-to-destination operation. Reservations must be scheduled by calling 706-821-1497 before 2 p.m. the day prior to appointment date. Appointments may be called-in up to a week in advance. Vans are in service Monday through Friday.

Columbia County Transit provides safe, clean affordable transportation within Columbia and Augusta-Richmond counties, Monday through Friday, with the earliest drop off time at 10 a.m. and the latest pick-up time at 3:30 p.m. Unlike traditional public transportation, this is a curb-to-curb service. Appointments must be booked a minimum of one business day in advance (Friday for the following Monday).

McDuffie County Rural Transportation

The McDuffie County Rural Transportation System operates five vehicles, three with wheelchair lifts, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Unlike traditional public transportation, the system serves all McDuffie County residents for local appointments Monday through Friday. To arrange for transportation, contact the office at least 24 hours in advance of your appointment.
