Fort Rucker has several excellent lakes and ponds for fishing: Lake Tholocco, Beaver Lake, Buckhorn Lake, Ech Lake, and Beaver Pond. Come try your luck with hybrid bass, catfish, crappie or bream and see if you'll catch The Big One.

Fort Rucker also offers deer, turkey and hog hunting. All hunters must have a valid hunter's safety education course completion card, regardless of age. If you do not have a hunter's safety card, the Alabama State Hunter Education program, in partnership with ODR, offers safety classes on Fort Rucker. Sign up at

All individuals 16 years and older wishing to fish or hunt on Fort Rucker are required to have an Alabama State license and a Fort Rucker post permit. Both may be purchased at Outdoor Recreation. Military personnel without an Alabama driver license will need to present a copy of orders stating Fort Rucker as current duty station. Military dependents without an Alabama driver license will need to present orders authorizing movement of dependents to Fort Rucker.
