Base Safety

The MCIEAST-MCB Camp Lejeune Safety Department provides a core of safety services and technical guidance to installation and tenant commands in order to protect personnel and material assets, achieve regulatory compliance, control hazards and prevent mishaps through various occupational safety and health programs, educational campaigns and fairs, and innovative initiatives.

SAFETY CAMPAIGNS

We support the North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program by promoting “Click It or Ticket,” “Booze It & Lose It,” “BikeSafe NC,” “No Need To Speed,” “Motorcycle Safety Awareness Month” and “Safe Kids.” We have partnered with the Coastal Coalition for Substance Abuse Prevention to promote the responsible use of alcohol and prevent substance abuse, and have also partnered with various local groups and associations to prevent suicide.

SAFETY INITIATIVES

MCIEAST-MCB Camp Lejeune’s primary mishap prevention initiative is the Voluntary Protection Program (VPP), which is a management system that promotes safe workplaces and ensures leadership, accountability and employee participation in the command safety program. VPP “Star” sites generally experience fewer lost workday injuries, improved employee motivation to work safely, and pride and recognition as a world-class leader in worker safety and health.
