Schools on Eielson AFB

Schools on Eielson AFB are operated by Fairbanks North Star Borough School District and offer a complete program for students covering grades kindergarten through 12th grade. There are approximately 1,015 elementary and 633 secondary school students attending these on-base schools. Bus transportation is provided for any students living more than 1.5 miles from school. Students living off base may request to attend on base schools.

The Department of the Air Force Youth Programs (YP) offers opportunities for development of young people with sports, fitness, arts, education and recreation programs.

The Youth Sports and Fitness Programs provide opportunities for sports, health and nutrition, fitness, outdoor recreation and motor skill development. Eielson Child Development Center offers care for children ages 5 to 11 and preschool from September through May. The CDC promotes cognitive, social and physical development through recreational and educational programming using the Air Force Creative Curriculum. You can click the link to register here. Eielson School Age Care is a full-service child care program for children ages 5 to 12 providing hourly care before and after school. The program is nationally accredited as a Boys and Girls Club of American and 4-H affiliate.

Families who choose to live off base will attend the district based on their physical address. Area schools are also a part of the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District. The district serves 13,279 students in 36 schools and has an 80.9% graduation rate.

This district is composed of 18 elementary schools, four middle schools and four high schools. There are also five K-8 Charter Schools, one charter high school, one K-8 Magnet school and one structure home school for children K-8.
