At Fort Wainwright, Alaska, military family housing is privatized. In addition to your option to purchase and rent housing in the local community, you may choose to live in privatized housing by signing a tenant lease agreement with North Haven Communities, which owns the family housing and is responsible for constructing, maintaining, repairing, and managing the community. Fort Wainwright's military family housing neighborhoods offer a variety of house styles and floor plans. Neighborhoods feature playgrounds and parks, recreational trails, a community center, and more. School-age children living in Fort Wainwright on-base housing can attend schools in the Fairbanks North Star Borough School District. Arctic Light Elementary School is located on post. Applying for on-post housing is easy, but don't hesitate to contact the leasing office if you have questions.

3. Denali Village

JNCOs Denali Village has townhomes with three or five bedrooms. Homes have heated garages. The community is close to the front gate and shoppette.

4. Gertsch Heights

JNCOs Gertsch Heights has townhomes with three or four bedrooms. The neighborhood’s ranch-style, ADA-compliant home has three bedrooms. Homes have heated garages. Some units feature basements and fenced-in backyards. This community is close to the front gate and multiple parks. It is within walking distance of Arctic Light Elementary School.

5. North Town

SNCOs, CGOs, FGOs, SOs A quiet neighborhood near the airfield, North Town has townhomes with three to five bedrooms. Some units feature heated garages, fenced-in backyards, and unfinished basements. The neighborhood is near multiple parks.

6. Northern Lights

JNCOs The Northern Lights neighborhood has a combination of mid-century designed and newer construction townhomes with two to three bedrooms. Some units feature fenced-in backyards, basements, and heated garages. The community is close to the front gate, shoppette, and child development center. It is within walking distance of Arctic Light Elementary School.

7. Siku Basin

JNCOs, SNCOs, CGOs, FGOs, SOs Siku Basin features modern townhomes with three or five bedrooms and heated garages. The neighborhood is close to Trainor Gate and Birch Ski Hill. Ladd Elementary School and Tanana Middle School are within walking distance.

8. Southern Cross

10. Tanana Trails

SNCOs, CGOs Tanana Trails features four-bedroom duplexes. Homes have heated garages and fenced-in backyards. The community is near paved nature trails and a community pavilion.
