131st Bomb Wing – Missouri ANG Community

I’m proud to introduce the first-ever 131st Bomb Wing Guide. The original concept was for a yearbook of sorts, to enhance esprit de corps across the wing, its 1,200 Airmen and our four operating sites across Missouri. The product in your hands does that very well, with each unit represented in a group photo and dozens of our Airmen and all of our various missions and functions highlighted in feature photos and in the stories of our successes.

But this wing guide should do more than just reinforce the pride that each of us feels when we put on our uniform. We also want to help our Airmen understand — and closely identify with — our vitally important missions. First, our federal mission includes providing our nation with strategic deterrence and assurance capabilities in the B-2 Spirit, alongside our total-force partners in the 509th Bomb Wing. We also provide combatant commanders with unique capabilities like civil engineer staff augmentation teams, combat communications and air operations command and control. We also have a state mission: to always be ready to come to assist our Missouri neighbors in time of need when the governor of Missouri asks us to, following a natural disaster or other emergency.

One of the more impressive parts of this guide is the timeline that shows our journey throughout our nearly 100-year history. I’d ask you to take note of the significant number of strides we have made and successes we’ve attained in just the past few years. We owe this to the perseverance and excellence of our 131st Airmen who have answered every call to service asked of us. You should be proud of your role in this long legacy.

This book is also a tool in your day-to-day work. It includes an updated phone guide, base maps and local area information. We also hope it serves as a useful resource for our collective recruiting efforts. It has valuable information that you can share with your friends and co-workers in your communities, in order to give others a chance to become a part of the ongoing excellence we have established as our standard in the 131st.

We are Lindbergh’s Own. Our motto is “Ready for Action.” You’ll find in these pages a solid representation of both standards, well demonstrated by the work that you and your fellow Airmen do, day in and day out. Keep it up!
