940th Operations Group
The 940th Operations Group provides integration and command oversight of four associate units, supporting command and control and high-altitude reconnaissance missions at four operating locations. During wartime, contingency and homeland operations, the 940th Operations Group provides combatant commanders with an integrated total force in support of battle staffs, air and space operations centers, and RQ-4 Global Hawk operations and maintenance.
The group consists of the 13th Reconnaissance Squadron, the 713th Combat Operations Squadron, the 701st Combat Operations Squadron and the 710th Combat Operations Squadron.
13TH RECONNAISSANCE SQUADRON
The 13th Reconnaissance Squadron provides theater commanders with near real-time intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance and target acquisition data by operating and maintaining the deployable, long-endurance RQ-4 Global Hawk remotely piloted aircraft and ground control elements to fulfill training and operational requirements generated by the Joint Chiefs of Staff in support of unified commanders and the secretary of defense.
The 13 RS supports Air Combat Command when performing peacetime and training missions, Central Command, Southern Command, Pacific Command, European Command and Africa Command when performing wartime tasking, and Northern Command during disaster response.
713TH COMBAT OPERATIONS SQUADRON
The 713th Combat Operations Squadron and its detachment at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, Hawaii, is the only unit in the Air Force Reserve Command associated directly to a Component MAJCOM. As a Total Force Integration unit with Pacific Air Forces Headquarters, the squadron provides steady state, contingency and wartime augmentation to the PACAF AFFOR staff through reach-back capability and the ability to deploy throughout the Pacific Theater.
The 713 COS delivers mission-essential, operational-level command and control capability and continuity across the entire spectrum of military operations from humanitarian assistance to combat operations. The squadron develops and leverages Reserve personnel subject-matter expertise to integrate into the AFFOR staff to plan and create effects, from strategy to task, to meet COMAFFOR/JFACC goals and objectives.
701ST COMBAT OPERATIONS SQUADRON
The 701st Combat Operations Squadron, a geographically separated unit at March Air Reserve Base, California, provides combat mission-ready, experienced Air Operations Center warfighters supporting the Combined/Joint Forces Air Component Commander in the Korea theater of operations during all phases of military operations.
The 701 COS augments the 607 AOC, a combined force operational-level warfighting echelon, Osan Air Base, Republic of Korea, as part of the senior decision-making element for the C/JFACC. The squadron integrates seamlessly into a multinational active-duty force, commanding and controlling theater combat air forces, providing subject-matter experts in operations, plans, communications, logistics, strategy, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance.
710TH COMBAT OPERATIONS SQUADRON
The 710th Combat Operations Squadron at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, Virginia, provides well-trained, experienced Air Operations Center warfighters to support combatant commanders in joint and combined exercises during peacetime and real-world operations in time of war. The squadron augments the 609th Air Operations Center, Air Forces Central, as part of the senior decision-making element for the Combined/Joint Forces Air Component Commander and integrates seamlessly with active-duty forces in command and control of theater combat air forces.
The 710 COS provides continuity and core expertise by augmenting the AOC with expert personnel in the areas of combat operations, combat plans, intelligence, strategy and communications to develop strategy and planning documents, monitor the execution of all air, space and information operations, and provide combat assessment in support of the combatant commander’s guidance and objectives.
