Who We Are
People in our community, and all over the world, partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Habitat homeowners help build their own homes alongside volunteers, and pay an affordable mortgage. With our help, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and their families. |

Vision
A world where everyone has a decent place to live
Mission
Seeking to put God’s love into action, Habitat for Humanity brings people together to build homes, communities and hope.
Mission Principles
Affordable Homeownership. We believe affordable homeownership builds stable, vibrant communities, is transformational, and provides a solid foundation from which generations can prosper and thrive.
Families as Partners. We believe dignity, self-reliance and hope are promoted when people are actively engaged with building and caring for their home.
Inclusive Collaboration. We believe in the power and spirit of teamwork, bringing diverse people together to volunteer, give and advocate for affordable housing.
Equity. We believe in creating financial access for people so they can purchase an affordable home and removing barriers that limit people from areas of opportunity.
Humanity. We believe we all have blessings to share and that we are all better off when everyone has a safe, affordable and healthy place to live.
People
History
Habitat for Humanity was established in 1976 by Millard and Linda Fuller. The Fullers wanted to address poverty housing on a global scale through “partnership housing.” The Fullers’ concept of partnership housing centers on those in need of adequate shelter working side-by-side with volunteers to build simple, decent houses. Habitat homeowners’ partnership includes contributing “sweat equity” by building alongside volunteers and taking homeowner ship classes. Habitat homeowners pay an affordable mortgage on their homes.
Habitat for Humanity of Metro Denver was established in 1979 by a group of passionate volunteers. These volunteers worked tirelessly to fundraise, acquire land, select families and manage all of the logistics to build the first Habitat homes in Denver. Since then, Habitat Metro Denver has become one of the largest affiliates in the United States, celebrating the construction of our 600th home in 2016.
Today Habitat for Humanity has served more than 1 million families around the world, completing the construction or repair of a home at the rate of every 4 minutes.
