The Children’s Theatre

This volunteer nonprofit community theater is operated for the entertainment and enjoyment of the families of Dover and Kent County. Its mission is to foster and encourage development of, and commitment to, the highest standards of theater through production and presentation of plays, workshops and seminars.

Delaware Ballet

Though focused on classical ballet, the troupe offers diverse performances that include contemporary pieces. It is the area’s oldest nonprofit ballet company.

Dover Art League

The Dover Art League is a nonprofit dedicated to providing opportunities for local visual artists of all ages and skill levels through quality programs, gallery exhibitions and art classes.

Dover Symphony Orchestra

The Dover Symphony Orchestra brings live performances of classical and orchestral music to the Dover and Central Delaware area, provides an outlet for musicians and fosters the interest of local students.

Kent County Theatre Guild at the Patchwork Playhouse

The Kent County Theatre Guild strives to provide opportunities to participate in a live theatrical experience whether it is onstage, behind the scenes or as an audience member. The community theater has served Central Delaware residents since the early 1950s.

Milford Second Street Players at the Riverfront Theater

This year-round community theater produces shows from dramas to children’s theater and nearly everything in between with other cultural groups and schools.

Mispillion Art League

This nonprofit organization brings the visual arts and art education to the greater Milford area. The league holds classes and workshops as well as annual members’ exhibits.

Schwartz Center for the Arts

Opened in 1904 as the Dover Opera House, the Schwartz Center for the Arts provides a home for the performing arts, educational activities and entertainment. It is run by a partnership with Delaware State University, Wesley College and the Friends of the Capitol Theater.

The Smyrna Opera House

Smyrna, DE 19977

The Smyrna Opera House was originally built in 1870 and was restored in 2003 as a community cultural arts center, promoting access to the arts in Central Delaware. It is operated by a nonprofit organization and is dedicated to showcasing and developing local artists while offering affordable access to the arts.
