Eielson AFB Community

Valdez is 341 miles south of Eielson on the north shore of Port Valdez, a deepwater fjord in Prince William Sound. Valdez offers great fishing and hiking and has terrific potential for whale sightings. It is the last stop of the trans-Alaska oil pipeline. Eielson has eight camping trailer sites equipped with electrical power and water at Eagles Rest Campground. Five “you drive” boats are available for rent for fishing and sightseeing. The military recreation site is open from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, weather permitting. Call 907-377-1232 for more information.
