Smith Lake Recreation Area

Smith Lake Recreation Area, Building Q-2812 located on Smith Lake Road off Honeycutt Road  or Highway 210.

Enjoy the tranquil setting of our Army Travel Camp in the midst of North Carolina’s long-leaf pine tree forest. The camp ground is open year-round to authorized ID card holders. The campground offers back-in and pull-through RV sites with full (water, electric and sewer) and partial (water and electric) service, as well as rustic cabins and primitive tent sites.

The park and picnic area is open year-round to ID card holders and the general public for pavilion rentals. Amenities include basketball courts, horseshoe pits, volleyball courts, barbecue grills and playgrounds.

The beach area is open from Memorial Day to Labor Day to ID card holders and the general public. Admission fee applies. The beach features a sandy swimming/beach area, a playground and volleyball court, as well as canoe and paddleboat rentals. The lake is accessible for fishing all year round from the north side.

Smith Lake Recreation Area offers a 5K off-road running and walking trail, more than 6 miles of mountain bike trails for the novice to experienced rider as well as a paintball operation. Call (910) 396-5979.
