Housing Division

The Housing Division provides management and oversight of all permanent and transient housing programs, ensuring adequate housing is provided for all Fort Detrick personnel.

Community Home finding, Relocation and Referral Services, formally known as the Housing Referral Office, has a variety of services for military and civilian personnel. The CHRRS office maintains a list of available home listings for rent or purchase. The office can assist you with temporary lodging, and provide an overview of community resources and amenities, maps, school information and other community service information. Military personnel reporting for duty at Fort Detrick are required to report to the housing office prior to seeking off-post rental housing.

To contact the Housing Division, call 301-619-3224/3419. For more information on housing services at Fort Detrick, visit

Military Family Housing

Military family housing at Fort Detrick is provided by Balfour Beatty Communities. Detrick Homes consist of four neighborhoods with two-, three- and four-bedroom homes in both single-family and townhome styles. Homes in these neighborhoods feature garages, central air conditioning, washer and dryer hookups, fully equipped kitchens and hardwood flooring; amenities vary by neighborhood. Other community amenities include a neighborhood center, playgrounds, tot lots, and park and picnic areas. There are also monthly community events.

Lawn care services, 24-hour maintenance services, and curbside trash and recycling pickup are provided. Utilities are included in your rent — though residents who consume more than the baseline utility consumption have to pay for overages, while residents who consume less than the baseline receive rebates.

Detrick Homes allows pets with certain restrictions. In general, residents may have two pets, though exotic animals are not allowed. Pets must be registered with the Community Management Office by completing the pet addendum when signing the Resident Responsibility Agreement. If additional pets are acquired after move-in, residents must update the pet addendum within 10 days.

Unaccompanied Housing

The housing office is responsible for assigning adequate space to single soldiers in pay grades E-1 through E-5. Soldiers requiring unaccompanied enlisted personnel housing must have a current (within 60 days) end-of-month Leave and Earnings Statement.

In accordance with recent changes in Army policy, incoming single soldiers in the grade of E-6 will be authorized basic allowance for housing at the without-dependent rate and will be required to reside off post. Additionally, geographical bachelors (soldiers entitled to BAH at the with-dependent rate who are voluntarily separated from their family members) are not authorized assignment to permanent party unaccompanied enlisted personnel housing.
