Photo Essay: Training ops and snow at Fort McCoy
Story by Scott Sturkol on 02/26/2019
During February 2019, at least 30 inches of snow and likely more fell at Fort McCoy adding to the winter experience for troops training at the installation.
According to the Directorate of Plans, Training, Mobilization and Security (DPTMS), thousands of service members trained at the post during February.
Among those training were students in the Cold-Weather Operations Course coordinated by DPTMS; the 89B Ammunition Supply Course taught by the 13th Battalion, 100th Regiment; the Fort McCoy Noncommissioned Officer Academy; and more.
Located in the heart of the upper Midwest, Fort McCoy is the only U.S. Army installation in Wisconsin. The installation has provided support and facilities for the field and classroom training of more than 100,000 military personnel from all services each year since 1984.
