Ft Hood Guide 2018 Welcome "Home"

Greetings! I’m Lieutenant General Paul Funk. Command Sergeant Major Mike Crosby and I are Phantom Warriors, and we welcome you to The Great Place.

Located in the rolling Central Texas farmlands, throughout the past 76 years, Fort Hood has solidified its role as our nation’s premier power projection platform — the anvil on which America’s Hammer is forged. While Fort Hood is an immense place — spanning nearly 340 square miles — it is The Great Place because of its remarkable people, its long and storied history and its bright future.

Our unique partnerships with the world-class communities around us make Fort Hood a superb place to serve and live. This guidebook includes highlights of these communities, which remain steadfast in their support of our Soldiers and their Families.

With so many resources available to assist the Fort Hood military community, this guidebook is one way to reach out to newcomers to The Great Place, as well as provide a guide for the post. You can also find helpful information and keep up with the latest news through our free weekly newspaper, the Fort Hood Sentinel, which is published in print and online at www.forthoodsentinel.com.

The Internet and social media play a big role in the post’s efforts to connect to its community. The Fort Hood homepage, www.hood.army.mil, hosts a wealth of information and drop-down menus, as well as links to Fort Hood’s social media pages. We encourage you to add Fort Hood’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/forthood, to your daily newsfeed. To stay on top of Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation activities, go to www.hoodmwr.com for updated information.

You can also download a mobile application of this guidebook so you have the information within these pages in the palm of your hand on your smartphone or mobile device. Go to the App Store and download the MyBaseGuide application. Once you have the app, choose Fort Hood as your location, and you’ll have this guidebook available anywhere you go. For more details about the guidebook, maps and the mobile application, go to www.mybaseguide.com.

Fort Hood is truly an exceptional place to call home, and this guidebook should help you take advantage of everything it has to offer.

We are tremendously proud of Fort Hood, and, along with our Families, we are honored to be part of this outstanding military community. It’s our home, and now it’s yours, too. Welcome home to The Great Place.
