On-post family housing consists of one- and two-story, single-family and duplex-style homes. Some homes on post date from 1884 and are part of the old Calvary Fort, now listed as state and national historic landmarks. The homes, including historic homes, on Fort Huachuca are operated and maintained by Mountain Vista Communities through a partnership between the Army’s Residential Communities Initiative and Michaels Military Housing.


On April 1, 2009, Fort Huachuca family housing became privatized under the Residential Communities Initiative. Michaels Military Housing manages, maintains and renovates the 1,064 privatized family housing units on Fort Huachuca. The program’s goal is to provide safe, quality and attractive residential housing to enhance the quality of life for military families. The Army chose MMH as the development partner to accomplish this mission at Fort Huachuca.

MMH owns the property; Mountain Vista Communities is your landlord and handles all housing operations. They can be reached at 520-515-9000 or MMH has been organized and resourced to be a long-term partner with the Army through the Residential Communities Office.


Military personnel must sign in for duty and have their permanent change of station orders before they can apply for on-post housing. Fort Huachuca on-post homes are available to military members, from all branches of the service, assigned to Fort Huachuca.

As new families arrive at Fort Huachuca, they are directed to the on-post family housing office (MVC), where they are greeted by a team of professionally trained housing specialists. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays. The phone number is 520-515-9000. The waiting time for assignment to on-post housing varies by eligibility date, rank and bedroom requirements. Both MVC and HSO offices are at Building 52065, Smith Avenue.

Many families buy or rent housing in nearby private communities. The Housing Services Office is staffed with government employees to provide relocation assistance to Soldiers and their Families in locating suitable private housing. You will be provided with information regarding available, affordable and appropriate apartments and homes. The HSO staff is specially trained, has experience with the local rental market and can help you with your off-post housing needs.
