Hunting, Fishing and Wood Yard

FTIG offers a variety of game species for the hunter, including deer, turkey, bear, spring gobbler and small game. Open seasons are in conjunction with Pennsylvania Game Commission dates. For more information on hunting in Pennsylvania, visit

Sportsmen will enjoy fishing for trout, bass and other fish in the stocked streams and lakes of Fort Indiantown Gap. The seasons are the same as Pennsylvania’s Fish and Boat Commission’s seasons. For more information, you can visit their website at or call 877-707-4085.

Hunting and fishing on the installation are open to the public; however, training priorities for the armed forces take precedence, and this may result in certain areas being closed. Call the information line to find out which areas are open.

The wood yard is open by appointment only. The logs are precut in 8- to 10-foot lengths and customers are responsible for cutting and loading their own firewood at their own risk.

In addition to Pennsylvania game laws, Fort Indiantown Gap is subject to FTIG Regulation 215-2 Morale, Welfare and Recreation: Hunting, Fishing, Wood Gathering and Outdoor Recreation in the Training Areas, which outlines all mandates. Copies are available at FTIG Range Operations.

All participants MUST attend a safety briefing offered four to six times a year and pay the applicable access fee. Safety make-up briefs are granted for deployed Soldiers.

No horseback riding, boating, ATVs or snowmobiles are permitted on post.
