The Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, at 2600 Lee Road, is dedicated to its mission of providing legal support to the U.S. Army Training Center and Fort Jackson by fairly administering the military justice system, providing quality legal advice and various legal services to eligible personnel.

Legal Assistance: Hours are 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, with the exception of federal and training holidays, when the office is closed. Basic powers of attorney and notary services are available on a walk-in basis during normal hours. Clients wishing to speak with a legal assistance attorney are usually seen by appointment, generally available within three to five working days. Walk-in hours are available for quick consultations with attorneys 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday. (Please note: Walk-in hours are not available for preparation of wills or for other matters requiring more than a quick consult.) In addition, reserve component legal assistance attorneys are available on some weekends by appointment. The telephone number for legal assistance is 803-751-4287.

Claims: Claimants may file a claim or their notice of loss or damage of household goods during office hours, which are 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. If the claims office is closed, claimants nearing their 75-day deadline for notifying a carrier of loss or damaged household goods should fax or email their forms directly to the carrier. The telephone number for claims is 803-751-3603, and the fax number is 803-751-6951. The claims office is closed 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. for lunch, federal holidays, training holidays and Wednesday.

Administrative Law: The Administrative Law Division provides accurate and timely legal advice to the command; provides legal oversight in specialized areas such as environmental, labor, ethics, FOIA and contract law; and briefs investigating officers (ROS, AR 15-6, Art 32, LOD) and reviews investigations for legal sufficiency. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The telephone number for Administrative Law is 803-751-7658.

Military Justice: The Criminal Law Division prosecutes general and special courts-martial and magistrate cases competently and zealously on behalf of the command; represents the command as a recorder and efficiently processes administrative separation actions; and provides informative and motivating military law instruction to commanders, staff and student personnel. Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. The telephone number for Military Justice is 803-751-5666.
