Plan your trip
Plan ahead to help make emergencies less stressful than they need to be. Map out your journey including planned rest stops for the driver. Don’t try to do too much in one day, remember everyone traveling including pets will be under stress during the move.
Hand carry important documents
Carry important papers, phone numbers and documents with you in a brief case. Carry your automobile insurance phone number and identification number i.e. AAA, USAA, Mobil, etc in case of car repair emergency. Keep your sponsor’s phone number handy.
Call temporary lodging at the gaining unit to make reservations upon your arrival. If temporary lodging is not available, ask for recommendations and the phone numbers of local motels and call for reservations. You never know when everything may be booked for a convention! Keep track of the towns you have just passed through for emergency location if your vehicle breaks down. If you have a cellular phone, give the number to family members for emergencies.
