Ft Meade Our Military Arrival


See the Getting To & Around Anne Arundel County and Howard County chapter on Page 22 for information about local airports, train service and public transportation. The closest commercial flights land at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport in Anne Arundel County, about 10 miles from the post. Other airports in the area include Dulles International Airport in northern Virginia, and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport in Washington, D.C. Transportation is not provided to the post.


Contact your sponsor with your estimated arrival time and flight information, if applicable, before you arrive at Fort Meade.

Sponsorship is vital to the relocation process. Don’t PCS without talking to your sponsor before departing for the post. Your sponsor will answer any questions you have about Fort Meade and the local area, make lodging or dorm arrangements and meet you upon arrival. Your sponsor will be there to help you and your family until you are settled into your new community.

From Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport

Take Interstate 95 or I-295 South toward Washington, D.C., to Maryland Route 175 East. Follow 175 E until it turns into Annapolis Road. Follow the signs to the Reece Road main gate. Be prepared to present identification, vehicle registration and proof of insurance at the gate.

From Washington, D.C.

Take Interstate 95 or I-295 North toward Baltimore to Maryland Route 175 East. Follow
175 E until it turns into Annapolis Road. Follow the signs to the Reece Road main gate.

From Annapolis

Take US 50/301 West to Interstate 97 North toward Baltimore. Take Maryland Route 32 West toward Odenton/Fort Meade, then Maryland Route 175 West, Annapolis Road. Follow the signs to the Reece Road main gate.


Military Personnel Office

2234 Huber Road, Room 4

When you arrive at Fort Meade, you must attend a mandatory five-day in-processing session with the Military Personnel Office. During in-processing, you will need an in-processing checklist, orders and ID card.

During this session, you will receive a welcome from the installation commander and briefings regarding master resiliency training (Phase I and II), personnel, finance, transportation, medical, dental and TRICARE.

In-processing week will start based upon the day you arrive at your unit, For example, if you report to your unit on Tuesday, you will report to Personnel and be prepared to attend Newcomer’s Orientation on Wednesday. Attendance on all five days is required to complete in-processing.

Upon completion of in-processing, you will have met the Department of the Army’s mandatory training requirement by completing 16 hours of Master Resiliency Training along with completing all other related in-processing requirements before reporting to the unit for duty. Spouses are welcome and encouraged to attend Newcomer’s Orientation.

Newcomers’ Orientation

This orientation focuses on welcoming newly arrived service members and their spouses, who can tour the facility and learn of available programs and resources. The orientation is 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. every Wednesday at the Army Community Service’s Relocation Assistance Office, 830 Chisholm Ave.

The new IHG Army Hotels/Candlewood Suites offers lodging or temporary housing to active duty, military retirees, government contractors and civilians.
