The Hale Koa Hotel Armed Forces Recreation Center: Imagine the sparkling waters of Waikiki Beach at your doorstep and majestic Diamond Head in the distance, you’ll find yourself at the Hale Koa Hotel, Armed Forces Recreation Center. Hale Koa, translated from Hawaiian as “House of the Warrior,” is a premiere destination resort for the military, their families and their guests. Located on Fort DeRussy, this Hawaiian oasis is surrounded by lush tropical gardens within a beautifully landscaped 72-acre green space and offers more than just fun in the sun. So whether you are visiting, on temporary duty or a permanent change of station move, or residing on the island, create lasting memories by enjoying Hale Koa Hotel’s outstanding hospitality, accommodations, food and beverage venues, private banquet facilities, entertainment, amenities and recreation.

Accommodations consist of 818 guestrooms housed in two towers with views of the blue Pacific Ocean or the verdant mountain range. All rooms are fully air-conditioned and equipped with a refrigerator, gourmet coffee maker, flat-screen HDTV, pay-per-view movies, free Internet and in-room safes.

Even if you are not staying overnight, eligible users can enjoy a day at the pool, dine in any of the restaurants, snack bars or lounges, and take in an evening show or picnic on the beautiful park grounds. Hale Koa Hotel entertainment line-up includes a Hawaiian Luau, Magic in Paradise Dinner Show, High and Right Comedy Nights, and live entertainment at the Barefoot Bar. Beach Cottages

Pililaau Army Recreation Center: Escape to the tranquil shores of the island’s west coast where spectacular sunsets, pristine waters and abundant marine life delight visitors at Pililaau Army Recreation Center. This beachside retreat is just 35 miles from the hustle and bustle of Waikiki and nestled within beautiful Pokai Bay.

Accommodations range from standard studios to spacious three-bedroom cottages. Each has a private sundeck and a barbecue grill. All cottages are air-conditioned, with ceiling fans, cable TV and a telephone. Kitchens are equipped with cooking utensils, tableware and dishes. Linen and daily maid service are provided.

Beach activities include snorkeling, boogie boarding, kayaking, surfing, stand-up paddle board and more. Casual island dining is available at Sunset Cafe. This beachside restaurant offers gorgeous panaramic ocean views. Open daily with live entertainment on select nights.

Mountain Cottages

Kilauea Military Camp: Amid the fiery activity of Kilauea Volcano, discover one of the military’s finest vacation gems, Kilauea Military Camp. This mountain resort was established in 1916 within what is now known as Hawaii Volcanoes National Park on Hawaii Island. This extraordinary park setting has also earned the distinction of being a World Heritage Site and an International Biosphere Reserve.

Kilauea Military Camp is mere footsteps away from one of the world’s most active volcanoes, but visitors will also discover the serenity of the surrounding rainforest and desert landscapes. Come experience Hawaii Island’s magnificent natural vistas, rare flora and fauna, and its rich Hawaiian cultural heritage.

Accommodations range from one- to seven-bedroom units; some include a Jacuzzi tub and kitchen. All 91 guest units offer a fireplace, cable TV, mini refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker and a variety of other amenities.

Additionally, a dormitory for large groups of 20 or more people is available. Group packages may be arranged to include dormitory or guestroom lodging, meals, meeting rooms and chartered tours and transportation. Catering and conference facilities are also available for private functions.
