Youth Services

Youth Centers: The Youth Centers provide a Middle School/Teen Program for youth and teens in grades six through 12. Youth Centers are open 2 to 8 p.m. weekdays and 2 to 10 p.m. weekends. The program offers a wide range of positive options that promote healthy youth development and ease the transition to adulthood with activities in life skills, citizenship, leadership, sports, fitness, academic support, mentoring, arts and recreation.

The EDGE! program offers out-of-school opportunities for children and youth to Excel, Develop, Grow and Experience by participating in cutting-edge art, fitness, life skills and adventure activities known as Art EDGE!, Fit EDGE!, Life EDGE! and Adventure EDGE! The EDGE! program is open to first through 12th graders. Register weekly for your EDGE! programs. Cost is $30 per week for first through fifth graders and free for sixth through 12th graders.

The HIRED! Apprenticeship Program: It provides 15- to 18-year-old youth with meaningful, professionally managed career exploration opportunities in Family and Morale, Welfare and Recreation operations. The HIRED! Apprenticeship Program offers valuable paid work experience and training to better equip each participant with the skills needed for a highly competitive job market.

The SKIES (Schools of Knowledge, Inspiration, Exploration and Skills) Unlimited Program: It encompasses instructional programs and classes designed to complement and support the experiences of military children. The goal of the SKIES Unlimited Program is to ensure predictability and consistency in the availability, affordability and quality of instructional classes offered. The programs are designed for students to expand their knowledge, be inspired, explore and acquire skills. SKIES Unlimited offers such programs as theater, music, dance, martial arts and more. Youth Sports & Fitness Program: CYS Services, Youth Sports & Fitness program offers a wide range of health, nutrition, fitness, life skills (outreach) and sports activities to children and youth ages 5 to 17.

The Youth Sports & Fitness program encompass a variety of (age-appropriate) safe and supervised activities that include basketball, flag football, baseball, soccer, cheerleading, softball, wrestling, track and field, field trips and events, such as PT in the park and gym.

Mini sports (ages 3 to 5) include basketball, soccer, flag football and baseball. Practices are conducted Tuesday through Friday with games Saturday.

Schofield Sharks Swim Club: Open to children 5 to 17 years old, the Sharks Swim Club program has tryouts 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at Richardson Pool. Monthly fees are $40 per child. All children must be registered through Child, Youth and School Services prior to joining the team. A yearly USA-Hawaiian (insurance) swimming fee will be assessed at time of registration.
