Plan a PCS budget

The cost of living for the entire state of Utah is lower than the national average. However, Davis and Weber counties which surround Hill AFB both have cost of livings that are slightly higher than the national average. The average amount of rent in the cities that make up Davis and Weber counties range from $675 (for a one bedroom apartment) to $900 (for a three bedroom apartment). The Utah real estate market currently favors buyers. The median selling price for a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom home is $129,000 and is $178,000 for a 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom home. Current BAH rates . The average cost of utilities (electricity, gas, water etc.) in Utah is $159, with the cost of gas being lower and electricity higher in the summer and vice versa in the winter.

Utah requires liability coverage; the minimum requirements are:

  • $25,000 per person for bodily injury
  • $65,000 per accident for bodily injury
  • $15,000 per accident for property

Additionally, Utah is a no-fault state, which means that drivers are also required to have at least $3,000 in personal injury protection.

The Airman & Family Readiness center offers financial counseling, education, and information and referral to the active duty and reserve personnel, retirees, civilians, contractors, and dependents that live and work on Hill Air Force Base. Financial counselors can provide assistance creating spending plans, reviewing credit reports, and with basic investing information. Additionally, the center conducts monthly financial education classes related to reducing debt, saving and investing, money and kids, and planning for retirement.
