Antelope Island State Park

At more than 28,000 acres, Antelope Island is the largest island on Great Salt Lake. The island is home to free-ranging bison, mule deer, pronghorn antelope, bighorn sheep, birds and other desert animals. Antelope Island State Park is ideal for swimming, kayaking, hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking. Trails offer breathtaking views of the lake and island scenery. Guided ranch tours of the island’s historic Fielding Garr Ranch are available. For information on island campsites, visit the park’s website.

Golden Spike National Historic Site

Golden Spike National Historic Site shares the story of the first transcontinental railroad. The Union and Central Pacific railroads joined their rails at Promontory Summit, Utah Territory, on May 10, 1869. The park offers re-enactments of the driving of the last spike and steam demonstrations from May through Columbus Day. The park also features replica locomotives, a visitor center and bookstore.

Ogden Botanical Gardens

The 11-acre Ogden Botanical Gardens, situated along the Ogden River, is home to rose, cottage, four-seasons, Japanese, water-wise, cactus and other demonstration gardens. Classes and special events are offered throughout the year.

Wasatch Mountain State Park

Midway, Utah 84049

Wasatch Mountain State Park offers year-round recreation on nearly 23,000 acres. The park is great place to camp, picnic, hike, mountain bike, fish and more. The park has four 18-hole golf courses and two historic areas: Tate Barn and Huber Grove, which features a farmhouse and creamery. The park is also home to Soldier Hollow, host of the 2002 Winter Olympics, which offers cross-country skiing, tubing, biathlon events and more.
