Camp Murray

The Washington National Guard, headquartered at Camp Murray, Wash., is defined by its state and federal mission. At the call of the governor, the Guard will mobilize and deploy during times of state emergency to augment local jurisdictions and responders in their efforts to protect lives and property. The Guard is also subject to the call of the President of the United States to serve as part of the total U.S. military force.

The Washington National Guard is made up of the Washington Army National Guard (WA ARNG) and the Washington Air National Guard (WA ANG). The WA ARNG is a reserve component of the U.S. Army and the WA ANG is a reserve component of the U.S. Air Force. Approximately 8,200 citizen-soldiers and Airmen serve in the Washington National Guard — 6,100 in the WA ARNG and 2,100 in the WA ANG.

These citizen-soldiers and Airmen — from every community, profession and background around the state — are dedicated to safeguarding lives and property throughout the state, as well as serving as sentinels for freedom overseas. They are neighbors helping neighbors through a tradition of service.

To contact the WA ARNG and WA ANG call the Public Affairs Office at (253) 512-8481. The WA ARNG Recruiting and Retention Battalion can be reached at (253) 512-8065; call (253) 512-3354 to be connected with the WA ANG Recruiting office.
